Should Vehicles be able to "Contribute" to capture zones

So as the title suggests I’ve been pondering recently on the idea of vehicles being able to contribute to capturing and defending strategic zones. For as long as I’ve played (I don’t know if it ever was different prior, possibly in Alpha?) tanks have never been able to capture or defend zones, only the Infantry. I get why it is set up that way in game but I can’t help but wonder if that were reversed could the pros outway the cons???

Now I know a great deal of players at the very mention of the idea are flabbergasted but I reckon allowing tanks to play a more active role in the match objectives might actually change up the gameplay nicely.
There are already numerous effective anti tank weapons available to keep a feature like this from becoming broken. Planes, AT weapons, other tanks, most importantly the explosive pack the god tier device available to literally everyone, even mines might be positively effected by this change if there was now heavier tank traffic over specific areas.

Now obviously there would need to be balancing factors in place. Vehicles would need to have a dramatically slower capture rate compared to Infantry. However overall I think giving armor more incentive to push forward for offense or defense would be a good change plus could help mitigate popular issues such as grey zone camping.
I’ve long said it’s not all the fault of those in the grey. Often times the best positions to fire into objectives are in those grey areas and with no other objectives other than kill your enemy why would someone not utilize the best position they have available to them?

I don’t want this to be too long winded so I’ll leave it there, please let me know what you all think of this idea

Maybe they shouldn’t “contribute” but should get capture points if in the range

I think that change should be implemented regardless honestly

I can’t believe I’m saying this but might be a good idea. The only cons I see is the possibility the tanks won’t do it anywa, tanks clogging chokepoints, and tanks being killed on the spot and ruining the entire cap point. It’s a double-edged sword but it might be needed.

How about this, by themselves, vehicles can’t capture points. Vehicles provide a small multiplier to infantry when capturing the point. Incentivizing combined arms pushes with both vehicles and infantry.

YES das ist gut!

This is very good as it will discourage greyzone camping

At the end of the day a det pack will still nuke basically every tank, and everyone can carry det packs, so no one is going to try to cap objectives while in a tank. You would be better off leaving your tank near cap and jumping out to cap the objective on foot.

I’m in objectives all the time while in my vehicles and currently it provides no direct benefit to the objectives

I really don’t know how to respond to this…

I like this too. Only thing I think that is left to consider is sometimes you get that Infantry that just refuses to play the zone. Hence one of the reasons I suggest giving vehicles the ability to do so although this can be circumstantial depending on the team in question

well, imo a vehicle by itself shouldn’t be able to capture a point. Vehicles are and should be support for the infantry. If the infantry on a team (80% of the team) refuse to play the objective then they deserve to lose.

Infantry support tanks always benefit getting up close

While true there in lays the point I brought up about Grey Zone camping. As of right now “Support” is the only role a tank can play. Often times the best positions sit in the grey zone and allow you to support your Infantry from safety, which is why it is so common. By allowing tanks to be more active in the objectives it gives them more reason to play the “Breakthrough” role which many of the tanks present in the game I.E Tigers, Jumbo, IS were designed for

When vehicles are on the defensive team then they’ll keep camping, to prevent this we’ll allows vehicles along with X infantry to be able to slowly reverse any progress the offensive team made. Therefore both sides tank will have reason to take objective!

bringing tank into the capture zone is incredibly dangerous, i wouldnt risk losing the tank if not all my crew members contribute to it at a normal or even faster pace.

and light tanks would be a bit too insignificant, so things like T-60 might even need a boost for capturing to be worth bringing into the objective

Aye yes that’s my point exactly. As of now if a tank can remain as far back as possible while still hitting the enemy they’ll usually take that option, it’s not like they cannot take part in the capture of contention of Zones anyway they have no “objective based” reason to play forward. This is that double edged sword though because it often leads to things like the grey zone camping which I mentioned

Considering that tanks can capture zones in warthunder… why not here?

We’d need a way to dismantle the leftover wrecks, just in case.
