Hey I just got reminded of how bad shotguns currently are even after the buff they got, they are still so behind any other weapon of the game that people only use them the first time around and then swap them even for second line rifles, as they stand shotguns got an effective range of about 12m if you land all or most of the pellets, while a second line rifle us able to kill people at 90-120m without an issue and they can get hits at such distances to a partially exposed target, mean while a low wall at 8m is enough to stop enough pellets to avoid getting killed with a shotgun.
As they stand right now shotguns keep been the worst type of weapon in the game even bellow secondary weapons like pistols, which put range them by a lot. And all players with a minimum amount of experience do know that. For example one of the most ludicrous tactics I have seen people use against shotguns is to go prone even in the middle of the open, because at 10m the hit size of target become so small that a shotgun hit can’t land enough pellets to kill or down the target.
So it would be nice if they are rework so they get to have a ace in enlisted.
The shotguns are certainly lacking in performance. I think they are at 19 pellets per shot now with each pellet doing about 1/4th the damage of a single 32acp shot from a pistol like the PPK, and at ranges of 30m or more, that value drops to about 1/10th as a guess. The american shotgun isn’t totally unplayable as you have 6 rounds but the double barrels are pretty useless, especially being class locked to assaulter.
The greatest perk of using a shotgun is the hit stagger effect, just a single pellet is enough to stagger an enemy just like they were hit with any gun. Kind of a niche tactic but if you have a front line of enemies fighting your team, spraying the shotgun from long range and tagging multiple enemies will disrupt all their accuracy giving your team the advantage, albeit for just a moment.
I would like to see the pellet count go down to 12 or 9, and increase the damage by 3x with a longer range falloff and slightly greater spread.
well, unfortunately, shotguns are not like they used to when berlin was introduced.
those were actual shotungs that you could kill someone at 10 to 20 meters.
after the nerf, those has been truly worthless, which were worse than now.
i know it’s hard to believe, but “luckely”, they decided to buff them with the making enlisted a better place 7 i believe, where they slighlty buffed them. but they are not good as they used to
then i wasn’t wrong thinking that for a brief moment.
i changed to 10/20 because to be honest, i wasn’t sure those were actually 50 meters.
matter of fact, i suck total ass in mesure distance at all
but… i think that made sense since you had very limited ammount of amonutions on your soldier.
( about having good damage and distance )
an actual good trade.
Well kinda. We didn’t had ammo boxes, but we had a perk that gave us 100% more ammo (Atleast in alpha)
I remember going for that perk on every possible soldier lol.
And yep. Shotguns, vg1-5 were fun, useable and amazing to play with back then. Mainly because no one was so committed to the grind that only a few of us did no life it and we were playing against bolt actions and no ppsh or ppds.
And getting fg42 on a gunner was such an acchivment back then lol. Was so freaking good.
Well what can we do.
Even the king tiger tank somehow was more strong than currently is… Atleast it survived all match long…
This still makes no sense to me. I was active on the forums when the shotgun nerf was implemented, yet I don’t recall seeing a SINGLE thread complaining about them beforehand. Like…why even do it? It’s such a rare weapon in-game, there was literally no reason to cry “OP”.
I just don’t fucking get it…this was one of the few games were shotguns actually made some sense.
And… as you can remember, it takes two post complaining about Americans insignia regimental patches over the shoulder to be removed… ( just as an example. And same went for semi auto rifles )
(I’m no conspiracy theorist such like russian bias, secret algorithms and sh(ee)t, but still I can’t help but think that was a shady move whose real purpose was to nerf otherwise “too good” SA, in a deliberate attempt to push players to grind harder and possibly spend more to upgrade their whole arsenals to expensive endgame full-autos.)
