Shotgun curious

Doing some online reading today, it says that the Winchester 1887 shotgun was never used in WW2, however the Winchester 1897 shotgun was, and was used throughout the Korean and Vietnam war as well. The 1897 is pump action as opposed to the 1887 lever action. I guess I am just curious as to why they would skip the legitimate WW2 gun for the non legitimate WW2 gun, unless it was just easier for them to model a level action over the pump.

I was bored looking to see what possible other shotguns could be added to the game, or if their were better ones not currently used. Japan needs one, unless one was added that I missed.

Honestly do anyone use shotguns? (besides the side arm one). Cause I’ve rarely seen anyone use any at all.

I didn’t until recently. I first armed some of my level one Allied freedom fighters with Ithica’s as backup weapons. Then took a Soviet six man engineer squad, gave five of them Shotguns, one the Fedorov 1912. They all carry the Yazikov smg pistol, which is what I really use until they blow through their 45 rounds and are on empty, then switch to the Shotguns. :joy: It kind of gives me a cheater smg squad.

I used to hate using shotguns in the game, back when I sucked with single shot weapons. But over the years have got much better with the shotgun, so, I kind of like it now.

Do you think it was laziness? Or just lack of research?

Honestly I don’t really like the TOZ-B or the Luftwaffe Drilling that much, I much prefer the 1912 and Browning auto.

Or both?

I only use one shotgun in my entire Loadout across all factions, and that is the M1912 for the engineer in my assault squad. The rest I find pretty subpar

They were formerly supplied with the Federov’s, and I still have them in stock, but since I was liking the Ithaca shotgun I thought I would give them a try. The two shot sucks though, which is one reason I was looking online for other shotguns, actually used that shot more.

That being said, I rarely used the Federov or the Toz as my dudes die before I get the full use of the Yazikov’s, and I tend to always build ammo crates right away since I know the ammo runs out quick. Most of the time I use this squad when one of my goals is to kill X amount of people using a pistol.

The only times I’ve used the toz b and drilling were in BR I to turn my engineer squad into a secondary assault squad. I would use them more if they reloaded like the April fools event one (2 shells at a time).

I love the shotguns as backup weapons, which for the most part is what I use them for. The Toz squad, I consider the Yazikov the main weapon and the Toz the backup, but they previously were sporting the Fedorovs, which I might go back to.

Well despite this idea being kinda dumb, but why not give the Soviets the 1912 and thw germans the Browning auto?

I play most with Germans and would not be unhappy if they were sporting the Browning Auto shotgun.

Honestly, I would prefer it if the Germans and Russians got their shotguns from the cold war (if enlisted decides to go there).

Germany can get the Benelli M4 or whatever the full auto shotgun is.

And Russia can get the Saiga 12 (basically shotgun ak) and the ks 23 (world’s largest mass produced shotgun).

The Auto 5 is straight up amazing, 100% worth it from gameplay alone, the Ithica for a BR1 weapon is also amazing, borderline OP there. And the 1912 isnt bad, but it wins on drip alone, just needs a bayonet.
