Yep and the m1 was level 9 unlock, so you unlocked the m1 garand before the m1 carbine
I mean, I’d actually be fine with that still being the case. The M1 Garand was way more common in its use than the Carbine, but that might throw off the balance? I dunno.
For front line infantry yes but the carbine was mostly used by back lines, and paratroopers I want to say tankers as well because of its small size and would have a greater total production at the end of the war
That’s all generally correct, except greater production /= greater issue or more common, and that the Carbine was mostly limited to backline troops during the war. Sure, that’s what it was designed for, but it was actually issued to infantry Officers, NCOs, and a lot of different guys in jobs that required fast movement or heavy lifting, such as ammunition bearers or artillery observers, where the carbine’s light weight was desirable. I can’t find any data indicating the Carbine’s issue to tankers, and I don’t think it would have been because it was longer and harder to store than the M3 SMG, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t get their hands on them. If I were going to suggest a change on this, I’d say that the M1 Carbine should be available to all infantry (because we don’t have paratroopers or separate officer/NCO classes) and be the only semi-auto choice for engineers, radiomen, AT specialists and Mortar crews, since they all (in theory if not in practice) carry heavy things around that aren’t their primary weapon, and the only secondary choice for MG gunners since MGs are heavy.
I don’t think my suggestion here is a good idea, just that it would better reflect history, and don’t really want to see this come to pass.
