I specified. In the Chinese client, this flag will look different. We took this into account, but the screenshots of the standard client were used for the announcement.

So, how will you determine the nationality of the client, KEO? Mandatory replacement does not seem to be a good idea.
I suggest that developers provide a DLC for us to download freely. After enabling the DLC, the Japanese flag will become the version available in China.
Similarly, I hope to have a German DLC.

My opinion is actually the same as yours: use these flags in countries where they are not prohibited, and give us DLC in countries where they are prohibited

Forwarded the suggestion to maybe introduce a Streamer mode option that could change some minor parts of the game, so people wouldn’t have these problems in the international client (even if playing from other regions).

Idiotic. almost 0 percent of true understanding on the modern Chinese.
By the nature, many people never put hatred towards the contemporary Japanese, but the flag and the militarism, imperialism and facism represented by it. A huge part of China was under threat and experience of japanese invasion in the 1930s and 1940s, millions of civilians were killed, thousands of cases of massacre appeared from urban to rural, from Northeast to the southern coastal region. By all means, it is not forgetable.
While there are people today being extremely nationalist, many are not and just possessed a respectable national sentiment towards the tragedies in history. At the same time people are also participated in the constant examination on the internal issues posed by different contradictions. While the flag itself is not by law prohibited, any advocating for facism are considered a crime. Most people including those in the government can tell that the flag with sun in the middle and red strips is a symbol of facism. Thus no need for a specil prohibition of the flag as any one displaying it in the public will subject to the moral condemnation and charge of law.
Though in a sense nationalism to the extreme is dangerous and foolish, your ideology behind all those junk wording is of 0 difference from the nature.It is people like you, being truly selfish or ignorant thinking this is only an act of extreme hatred towards Japanese but nothing else.
In a huge contrast to your misbehaviour, Mr Keofox has chosen a position of hundred times better. He knows to respect others national sentiment and understand that if a nazi flag is forbiddened then so should a imperial Japanese flag of rising sun, at least for people from countries that might consider it as ill in ideology.
Again, the game is produced facing the world market, surly not only for Chinese but also not only for your nation or the West. I appreciate Mr Keo’s respect,and at the same time decide to say nothing more and spite on your ignorant selfish face.

that is why it is normal to call japan xiao riben and japanese xiao riben guizi. cause you have no hatred towards japanese. for people who care about face so much, you arent giving other people much.
flag has actually much deeper history then just small part you have represented it here. it has been part of japan since edo era (so 17th to 19th century) and it became official flag of japanese army in 1870. it didnt represent any fascist ideology unlike nazi flag. it was simply flag of japanese army and later navy. unlike flag, army committed war crimes and killed millions of people. but it was not all japanese army from 17th century till 21st century that committed those war crimes.
if you said that 20 or 30 years ago i would have believed you. but for last 10 years i have been studying china and it is something worse than from orwell novel. systematic brainwashing of children, extreme censorship and classical conditioning. best way to check mentality of people is to pick popular novel in modern setting. it reflects authors mindset and mindset of his readers. and i would bet that in over half of them you will find some terrible plot where some japanese guy or japan wants to harm MC or china. and of course derogatory terms for japan dont help.

there is difference. nazi flag and symbols are outright illegal in some countries (and with putins stance on denazification it was better not risking it), while even in china rising sun flag is legal and not banned under the law. also rising sun flag is still under use in japanese army and navy.
and yes game is for world market and chinese have their own version where they can censor everything they want.

oh shit this game is currently in violation of hungary law…
while laws ban display and promotion on nazi symbols and ideology, there is usually exception when it is in art (and games). germany had one of the strictest laws on nazi symbols in games and they removed it couple of years ago.

and gaijin is publisher. publisher has more responsibility to keep the game in legal compliance than developer.
