After testing these new reward boxes in my experience, the main problems became apparent. We have one step forward, but several steps back. People spend over 2 million silver and get nothing. This leads to the conclusion that the players lose out again, against the desire of the developers to simply make money by forcing them to buy Gold, and put a person in a FOMO situation when the box will only last 25 days.
1.- It is necessary to implement “bad luck protection”. This means that every time you get an exclusive reward, the percentage increases to get another one.
2.- The most important thing is the opportunity to choose which awards you would like to receive first. What I mean is that being a German main, I only miss a few squads there - but I’m forced to spend my silver on stuff from other factions that I have no interest in. By marking which squads or weapons we would at least expect to receive first, regardless of RNG, you would be guaranteed.
3.- When you reach a certain amount of opened boxes (I don’t know, say 50 or 100) you would automatically receive a special reward. Everything would still be RNG, but at least there would be some “frames” in this.
4.- I think that excessive “rewards” such as customization tokens and boosters should be abandoned. Silver can stay, but I think it’s stupid when the box costs 5k, and when you open it, you only get 1k? Totally incorrect. Silver rewards should be doubled.
i think there should be an option to buy them with gold like lets say 50 gold per box or make them cheaper or increase the drop chance for squads. because now its impossible to get anything that i actually want.
It’s weird how the OP keeps mentioning “forced”. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything. It’s a purely optional game mechanic. It’s also designed for veteran players with a lot of spare silver, not for new players still unlokcing the TT.
If a player has no self control and blows all their silver gambling on a loot box, that’s on them. Nobody put a gun to their head and forced them to partake.
It’s like walking into a casino, putting your life savings on Black and losing it all, then blaming the casino for having the game in the first place. It’s utter madness.
The best advice is if you don’t like the mechanic, don’t play it.
And yet you are wrong. And I’ll tell you why. From a marketing point of view, the whole thing is broadcast as “the developers are giving the opportunity, long requested by the players, to finally be able to get the old Event squads”. This was the main selling point of this whole Veterans box policy.
Everyone was waiting for it, including me, to complete their collections.
Yes, no one is holding a gun to their head - but at the same time, an incorrect and misleading narrative is being created that I was “given” such an opportunity.
And by the way, accumulating millions of silver (as an example) is not so easy, and not even getting what you wanted from the boxes, and according to how this whole thing was “advertised” on the Road map, is a bit absurd. You have to be completely selfish to ignore this implementation flaw.
EDIT: and if you read what I wrote, the corrections I offer are very legit. Is anyone want something for free here? Please read again.
Nope, not wrong at all. Everything I wrote was correct.
You said it yourself…
the developers are giving the opportunity…
. The key word there is “opportunity”. It’s a loot box, a gamble. I mean, what did you expect? That they guarantee all the stuff you’re missing? That’s absurd.
They’re even kind enough to display the percentage odds on getting stuff, so you can absolutely be sure that there are RNG gods at play. I just can’t see how you’ve been misled by any of it. Maybe it’s a language barrier, I dunno. I think you’ve misconstrued some wording somewhere, and if you have, well, that’s unfortunate for you. At the end of the day though, nobody is forcing you to participate. At all.
Since this is a suggestion sub-topic, I suggest you read what is proposed again. Because now you want to create the impression that my post is just a “rant” and involve me in an unnecessary discussion. I’m very happy to have a “chance” so I offer corrections like other players here on the forum who see how poorly this Vet box was implemented, using similar experiences from other games.
In my opinion the most obvious problem with the box is how low your chance is to get what you actually want.
1% doesnt seem so bad with the 5000 silver price, however players get a random squad.
For new players that have only been playing for a few months, their chance to get a squad they actually like or at least for the faction they actually play is close to zero.
While Darkflow did inded partially stay true to his word because it’s true that now we have a way to collect old event squads, but they never mentioned anything about trash boosters for 5000 silver or gambling silver to get silver, these need to corrected because toxic gambling has no place in a proper video game.
the problem is that you cannot store them or activate them whenver you want. they are instant
personally, as soon i got 3700% of boosters, i was kinda annoyed at first, but after a few match, i managed to fully grind few squads in relatively short time ( like mg III, radioman III etc those annoying squads ).
so, it kinda suck that you wasted 5000, but boosters are always important for all sort of players.
with that being said, it wouldn’t hurt changing %eges to favor slighlty more squads and weapons over boosters and silvers.
