As it is right now when you need to repair your tank you need to exit with your whole crew (Everything from 3-5 soldiers) when doing this you both are in the risk of loosing some of your crew as they will stand next to the tank and be oblivious, you also are in the risk of loosing your tank to a teammate (I’ve loost a few while repairing and a teammate jumps in and drives of), you also risk the tank to get 1 shooted when there is no crew inside the tank.
What if: When you’re sitting in the tank and need to repair, you can send out an AI crew to repair the tank and he then jumps back in. This way, you will not risk to loose your tank to either teammates or get 1 shooted (1 shooted can still happend i know). Also this way your tank will always be operational unless your turret get’s hit ofc.
Or another option to this is to make so only 1 crew memeber exit’s the tank to repair (The player) and the AI stays in the tank while the player does the repair.
I mentioned this on 1-2 other threads. Face the tank and hit ‘X,’ and your other squadmates will go back in. Blew my mind when I first learned about it.
No problem! So much of this game is reliant on ‘learning on the job,’ some tricks of the trade with elude people until they come to the Enlisted forums to learn from others. Also, if you hold ‘X’ to cancel all orders, they will then jump out with you, but as long as you don’t hold ‘X’ I assume only one soldier will leave at a time. Don’t know if orders will change if you switch squadmates, but given that standard infantry soldiers will remain at a specified point even if you change soldiers to go out and perform certain tasks as long as you stay within 50m, I assume that once you submit the command, only one tanker will leave at a time and it will only be the one that you control.
As for suggesting an AI tanker go out and repair, it’d be a handy way to stay in the fight while it’s being repaired, but I don’t think that’s realistic. I imagine, when a tank is getting repaired, it’s after the fight is over and they’re relatively safe. As such, I’m inclined towards only the player-controlled tanker being able to go out and repair, meaning the dumb AI bots inside won’t really be doing anything useful. Besides, if you send out an AI bot to repair the tank, they’ll probably bend over nicely right in front of the tank and in the line of fire of enemies so as to be conveniently taken out, rather than doing the proper thing like using the tank as cover. So yeah, I’d go with the ‘X’ method.
No this doesnt work, sometimes they take up to 5 seconds to get back in. The AI needs a rework, its not instant, and the fact that everyone comes out is just Dumb
I’d be happy with just being able to jump out one guy. Jumping all out, then quickly hitting X, can be a bit hair raising at times. Also, it’d be cool to toss smoke out that way also; since, our commanders are a bit dense when unbuttoned.
How awesome would it be for the commander to have access to his weaponry/grenades?
Inverted idea: Command that only me gets out and rest of squad stay in vehicle. When I get sniped I get information and I can switch into other guys in vehicle.
I guess our experiences are different, because I find they hop in pretty much instantly. Even if it took 5 seconds, yes that’s an issue that needs to be resolved, but for the short-term, you could deal with this problem by hopping out of the tank when you spawn, commanding your squadmate tankers with ‘X,’ and so you never have to worry during the battle of exiting the tank with the rest of your squad stupidly exiting with you. It’s at least a short-term solution.
Yeah it is rather dumb, but at least there’s a temporary fix. Make it standard operating procedure to, upon spawning in a tank, get out, hit X, and get back in. This should ensure that if you need to jump out to do some repairs at some point, the others will stay in, and ONLY one soldier at a time will ever leave unless you hold X thereby cancelling all orders.
This, in other words.
For the time being, yes, it seems like the best option, though I suspect many people hope that it’s yet another aspect of this game that will be worked on and refined. For the time being it would just be best to get into the habit of doing it right away upon spawning.
At least we don’t have to wait 45 seconds to spawn with a tank unlike with the plane, speaking of which, I’ve joined matches that are already in full swing with planes actually visibly in use and yet I still need to wait 45 seconds to join in my won plane. I find that to be rather annoying and unfair.
This is a good work-around for now. A problem arises when a player has specific perks on their tankers. So when they enter back into the vehicle they are not in the same spots. So after exiting and re-entering the tank the guy with driver perks can be the gunner and the guy with gunner perks can be the driver. So I have another tip for when repairing a tank. So when entering or exiting a vehicle there is a timer cooldown circle thing. The same is true when repairing the tank. If you start entering the tank when at about half of the repair is done then you will repair and then enter it very quickly after repairing. It just sucks if you start to enter it too soon as you must then exit finish the last little bit of repair and then enter it again. I bet with fast repair a person could repair their tank rather quickly.
