As the title says…
When using the artillery squad, no score is awarded for providing smoke cover for your team.
It would be nice if score was awarded.
Maybe then it will be used more.
Also, score is awarded for most other things so why not for something important like giving smoke cover for your team when charging the objective.
The reason few use it, is because it is radio operator squad ONLY.
If any squad could use it than it would be used way more often than if we give 100 score for using them
But yes, need some XP reward for using them
Then I will improve my suggestion: let every radio operator (in any squad) be able to pop smoke.
Your reward is winning the game, I think that’s enough. Go play a round of Squad.
Ask dev to add smoke outside radio squad
The reward dont was “have fun”?
This is a tricky slope. While on one side, yes I agree it would be nice to get some points for helping out the team, but that’s where the other part comes in. What quantifies as “helping the team”? Smoke works both ways, for and against you. Some people prefer to be in the smoke, some drop it to advance, some use it to block longer range fire, etc. It may block the enemies’ sight, but it also blocks teammates’ sight. Just adding in points for simply dropping smoke would lead to a whole host of problems, including:
- people dropping it just to farm points, without a regard for how it effects the game
- a time that could have been prime use of artillery is now used for smoke, just because its guaranteed points
- constantly dropping smoke for guaranteed points, even though it may be blinding the team endlessly
Therefore, simply dropping it should not give points. Look at standard artillery for example. Initially using it doesn’t generate points. Only when it gets kills or assists does it give points. So smoke would need a quantifiable action to actually generate points.
My best suggestion: If they revise smoke so that AI is incapable of shooting through accurately 100% of the time (currently it does sometimes, and other times not), then you can get points for enemy shots averted. Perhaps 5-15 points per instance.
The “instance” would be if an enemy had the opportunity to shoot at an ally in terms of range and line of sight, but the only reason they aren’t is because of smoke.
This would be quantifiable, and also avoid many issues of people dropping it at complete random.
Might be a little to bit complicated.
Just make the score based on how many allies took a point in a 5m radius, or make it give 5 score per smoke
Nope.
The only reason that it doesn’t give anything to you. It’s purely altruistic. Like marking infantry for your planes.
How many allies passed thru smoke.
That’s all.
This creates the problem where people will just keep hitting the objective with it, which is not always a good thing. Blinding your teammates to get points is NOT a good way to do it.
Again, the issue is that if your suggestion was the case, you would be blinding your own team with it. Not a good thing to do!
You can also make it depends on the situation. If you’re defending the smokes should blind any sightlines your opponent has on the incoming reinforcements. If you’re attacking you want to blind the enemy but you’ll still blind your allies in the process. But that’s the goal, it’s a two way smokescreen what do you expect?
Again that is sometimes a good thing to do. Especially on a cap points it lowers the amount of incoming fire giving you precious time, what are you really expecting?
