The Japanese faction lacks any high capacity machinegun, and in my opinion there is no need for one. There only needs to be an extension on a unique thing the Japanese already have - scoped machine guns.
My suggestion is simple: The introduction of the Type 96 LMG (Scoped) at BR IV.
The scoped version should offer less dispersion than the regular variant, this could be achieved by shifting the upgrades, having it so both the 2nd and 3rd upgrades of the weapon decrease dispersion, meaning that this variant would not get an increase to its firing rate, thus not making the original obsolete, by having it be clearly superior at close encounters.
Before the merge I had thought that the addition of a variation of a weapon which is simply the same gun but with a different accessory would only make one of those mostly redundant, but with battle ratings now in place there is place for both variants be at different BRs, or just for different roles.
Yep. The Type 99 LMG despite being such an iconic weapon is worthless when compared to the Type 96 LMG. I personally think we will gradually enter the territory of high capacity MGs for Japan in BRV. There is always a power creep in this game where a faction needs to get something similar when another faction gets a specific weapon. Take for instance the Type Hei Automatic Rifle. The devs will definitely consider adding it since the Japanese players will have to face 9-man rifleman squads armed to the teeth with M2 carbines. That being said it is a very good suggestion since we have the tech tree now. I hope it is a foldered version alongside the regular Type 96 LMG.
Just enough to work on the recoil of the type 99, as well as the sights. Type 96 with a sight is not salvation. Powerful machine guns are needed by all factions, to say that they are not needed is foolishness, because everyone has excellent machine guns.
It would be nice for it to be in BR 3, Tier III foldered with the original version, but seeing how empty Tier IV still is, I thought it would likely sit better there, at least at first
Yeah. Honestly, I was not impressed with the Tokyo Arsenal 1927 as well. It had horrendous recoil in the mods editor. Though I will have to test it out in a real match as well.
The Type 99 LMG is definitely a disappointment, I gave it many chances before making a last judgement, but a weapon that was supposed to be, at worse, a sidegrade to the Type 96, ended up being worse.
I can’t think of any high capacity machinegun that would fit the japanese at BR IV, where the faction is currently locked at, when it comes to BR V, there will surely be a need to have those, to go up against the american 1919a6.
There was already a version with a telescope in the enlisted version. In a previous update, this scope was physically removed from the game. Interestingly, even if there was a telescope model, it was impossible to use it.
The same thing I already use the Type 97 scope for: Medium range combat, which is common in the more open pacific maps. The zoom on it doesn’t have to comparable to a sniper rifle, just something to take the japanese MGs into a higher tier without needing to bring out anything too crazy before Rank V
