This very moment, in the shop, there’s the pre order bundle with two very cool (in my humble opinion) vehicles.
But there’s a tiny something that bothers me, and always had since Enlisted, is Enlisted:
There’s no clear release dates, never was. We often learn about new updates, on the very moment they’re released.
I just ask:
It would be nice to have a clearer idea of official release dates, even an approximation. Exemple: “For the next big update to be released next week, we plan this, and that (…)”
It would be useful for those who want to shop, too. Up 'til when can we purchase the pre order bundle???
Transparency is nice, and I know DF tries to go in that direction (helps PR).
The problem is update often gets delay. Giving any dates (even approximation) will just give unnecessary pressure to dev. Either rush to fulfill the date resulting a lot of bugs or postpone the update and get a lot of complaints and disappointments.
Last year, the 2023 roadmap was released on 21 Feb. The 2024 roadmap appears to be on the first quarter of the year, so at worst, we’ll get it late March.
Non-commitment to a date is fine so long as they release a finished, relatively bug-free update.
If only.
I’m really honestly thinking that Enlisted is a side project they can just milk for money and keep the playerbase happy with the occasional update and bugfix.
That’s the thing…
Often, big updates feel… rushed? With bugs and things released while not even functional!
Look at the Japanese apc! It’s paid premium, and doesn’t even work…
Yet, there’s never any dates or schedules or respected roadmap. So… we can’t even say that a date would pressure devs, they already are! (maybe snail whip df devs?)
So at this point… I see no reason why not giving the playerbase a tad more transparency than “soon” and "we can’t tell! c: "
Keep it simple.
The dev roadmap of 2023 was apparently too much to handle within a year.
Devs should make roadmaps based on their capabilities and not on quantity.
Better quality and better time management.
It actually has. They decided to sell this APC at the start of the battle pass. So it was rushed. Not to mention that battle pass was actually extended.
And you forget how a real rushed update would look like ? Do you forget how bad the major updates were when they were tied to battle pass?
I feel like the devs (not just Dark Flow specifically) are hesitant to give release date when they are not confidant in their own work. Once they announce a release date they are making a promise to all of their customers that their product is polished and ready to be release on a certain date. If by that promised date their product is not ready they will either delay the release date or release a product that does not live up to the hype due to bugs or quality issues, either option will disappoint and break the trust of their playerbase.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an example of devs hyping up the release date, making promises and breaking them by multiple delays and finally being forced to release their product in a poor state.
