Samurai mask on a tank - heading in Fortnite direction

Tank “decorations” are set to arrive soon.
Apparently, covering your tank’s vision ports with guitars is something that totally fits the WW2 theme.

Now, anyone who preorders the Pacific will ge a samurai mask “decoration”

I wonder if anyone remotely familiar with the Japanese culture or WW2 would argue that putting an ancector’s or someone else’s honorary mask on your tank is not absolutely ridiculos?

@aizenns @35282387 or other guys from the Asian community, maybe you guys can please comment?

To me this seems absolutely insane and not fitting a WW2 game in the slightest, but a very stereotypical flashy thing for paying players to show off.

Samurai masks on tanks are clearly neither “beautiful” nor “acceptable”.
They are BS.

No one care about a mask, lets complain about this instead

Since I am not Japanese, so cant say things deep about their culture, but personally believe its pretty strange to give a samurai mask as a decoration. I think it would have been better to give a sword like Katana or a Japanese guns as a decoration.

Jesus.

well, i’m sorry veekay friend, for how much i can agree,

i’m afraid it’s too late and too little of use to complain about those now…

we had our chance, we used every chance that we had, and still we have gone in this direction.
i’m afraid nothing else can be done.

as we have proto weapons, qustionable tanks in questionable place, looks like they are aiming for stuff that… was there, ( created and stuff ) but don’t care if it has been mass produced or not. so it is realistic to see those masks. i guess… trophy?

( gonna be weird and funny to see those masks on moscow tanks though :upside_down_face: )

beside,

its not like everyone will have or use this mask after all.
( and hope. )

Is not so impossibile, maybe some tanker took an old samurai piece of armor from his ancestor wen he go in war, or katana,or yari… something his ancestor use to fight for make him feel more sucure of having his ancestor protection

Well as an asian to say, maybe different in other countries but at least in korea, those are to be treated as a heirloom. Those are thought most worthy to inherit it safely to the next generation. Well most of those minds and traditions are gone in modern days, but 1940s those spirit would have left still I think.

Already at that level

Again, for anyone remotely simiar with Asian cultures (I studied Chinese, for one), that is completely absurd.

Confusionism, which influenced most of Asian cultures and religions, as well as local traditions like Shintoism, emphasize utmost respect for the ancestors, especially with the Samurai tradition of honor.

You don’t just take their honorary personal belongings and strap it onto your vehicle.

It’s absurd.

Yes is true, as i said not a mask (possible but hard to see )that is a heirloom as you said, but pieace of smurai armor or weapon from sengoku to boshin war probably are more fitted as decoration

Anyway dev liked the mask

We can only accept our avarage sakurai decide to take his ancestor mask and put her on the tank

Not absurd, is possible, your son is going to war and you want hee return safe, you give him your grandfather katana for make your grandfather spirit protect him

More japanese than this…

at least no ridiculous cherry blossom brances are there

they removed the historically inaccurate decals so at least you can only put “real” ww2 decal on your tank and not put eyes on your kv-1 (seen it ig). So if the samurai mask is historically acurate (which i’m pretty sure is not) they must remove it or make it usable only for plane

Well, sometimes Japanese soldiers bring old sword with modern officer sword’s hilt and scabbard which is inherited from ancestors, but I’ve never heard they bring old armor too.
But I don’t have idea that such decorations are good or not for such game. To be honesty I don’t care such small decoration on the tank…

Yeah, that’s why I pic him.
The screenshot shows that this is his tank.

On the plus side, if it’s going to be anything like War Thunder’s SIM mode, putting 3D decoration on your view ports or optics should result in actually blocking your own vision in battle.
