well, today’s thread is, what do people think of this new safe mechanism applied to apc?
where. instead of blowing up, similar to company of hereos series of game, your troops exit the vehicles as soon it blows up.
i’m not sure if it’s intentional, or a bug.
but both my or the opponents squads exits the apc relatively unharmed upon destruction.
what’s the general thought on this from the population?.
i’m kinda neutral.
i don’t like it because it’s not realistic.
and most of the time, when i hunt apc with HE / anti tank and what not, the anti tank trooper will die before even being able to switch weapon ( unless engaging from distance ).
on the other side, i guess it wouldn’t be fun to be one tapped as soon as you spawn on apc ( for most casual or newer players anyway ).
similar to ap rallies.
yet ap rallies does not have the same mechanism ( nor… should ? ).
so i’m not sure it’s even that, or why.

My current opinion is that squads should have a risk of being one-tapped anytime an unsafe spawn point is used. I think the ‘wouldn’t be fun’ argument doesn’t hold given that, in this game, you can quickly respawn with a full squad - so it’s mostly a penalty to tickets in the end.
But I might change my opinion with further experience ingame and based on other people’s arguments, as I don’t feel too strongly about it.

i’m not sure why this " feature " was implemented though.
Imo soldiers should die only if the explosion/shrapnel of the round actually hits them.
No “whole squad dies because 12mm round set the engine on fire” kind of thing (overexaggerated).

mh… now that you mention it,
i do occasionally squad wipe with one at rifle bullet on the engine busses or opel blites.
so… fair point there too.
but this new feature is only applied to apcs though.
Imo the squad should die on the APC if this blow up, otherwise they should eject from car, truck and bike too, to make sense
I like the ejection. Its only the guys that dont get hit by the round destroying the apc.
I would be okay with it applying to all vehicles. Especially tanks. Tanks blow up too easily
I mean if you want irl application, vehicles just dont “blow up” all the time. They get written off

That’s already a thing. That’s why various shells have actual numbers of shrapnels in their stats.
Plus it’s not only about shrapnels, but the blast wave itself does dmg as well. But that’s nothing unrealistic.

Im also kinda surprised that this is a thing now, almost as if its a bug not a feature, and yeah I actually think its good for the game, nothing is more frustrating than a squad wipe that isnt in your control.
The paratrooper planes actually have the same mechanism.
When that plane is shot before the troopers have jumped out over the selected area, they will jump out immediately to prevent them from dying with the plane.
Apparently the same as with APCs.
