RTS styled FPS?

i noticed that the game is becoming lot like war thunder - has lot of potential but has issues that destroy lot of it, this is a idea for new… game mode?

so i tought, how about RTS styled game mode except that we are the soldiers (you know… not being locked on one point, then another…) rallies need change as well - designated places with few already pre-build radio stations (few, to have more to choose than just one), which would need to be repaired in order to provide a spawn sound quite cool (and destroyed by enemy team)

so i had an idea now - how about we get a map as a whole, then filled with regions - each of whole would be controlled depending on who owns the capture points inside the region (like conquest)

also - you cant just “spawn” infinite soldiers, right? each or regions would have their number of garrisoned soldiers (and limit of how many players can be in the zone - once limit is reached, spawn points are disabled for that region), when those soldiers would run out, people would no longer be able to spawn in that region, but it would refill (by bringing soldiers from other regions via various transport means, there would have to be “source” region which would play a role of HQ and would constantly refill with soldiers

this would give a nice conquest-paced gameplay where soldiers would fight on a large map for domination but how about assault?

not all map we have now are suitable to be filled with just conquest ares, for that, we will need “fortified regions”, which can only be attacked by bringing lots of soldiers at once to it (convoy?), then an assault triggers, if attacking team does not conquer the region in given time, the region is split on 2 parts, to be counter-attacked (or continue assault as soon as new reinforcement arrives)

the small conquest areas would have few destroyed radio stations, one which the attacker would need to get running and by that gain a spawn point, to invade the region, the defender would have their spawn point at the regional HQ (which is on their side of the region, if enemy captures the region, control points might need to change and HQ moved), this building would have basic spawn protection, unlike the invader’s spawn point (win or lose)

of course, the game mode map would be much much bigger (just zoom out map while in game, to see how big it actually is)

i do understand flaws in my idea, designing maps to be fair for both teams is tricky and mechanics on the sides of the “fortified areas” still need to be clarified

To complicated a campaign map like RO2/RS2 o a mode similiar to planetside 2 is sufficient and good :ok_hand:.

i agree, i wanted some advanced steps for realism and keeping the assault game mode tho

Start by paying more attention to squad orders, and let me know what you think.

Personally I find that utilizing them can be extremely rewarding, as your bots are much smarter when they have direction.

I’ve also learned a trick where I can give myself cover while crossing an opening:
I tell my bots to defend the spot I want to move to, cover them while they’re crossing the opening (so I’m shooting and not the one running), and then once the bots are to safety, switch to one of them and cover the now-bot that I just switched from as they cross over.

The tools to be more tactical are available to you already, so long as you learn how to use them.

i tried that, it just doesnt work - instead of using trenches they will run everywhere but in the cover

try giving them “defend” order as attack? well first i have to see destination and then i need to teach bots that the enemy is not at our spawn point, but on the other side - they just run on the most open field (why dont they just go straight?) while facing backwards

i spend like 4 minutes trying to get them on the 2nd floor of the building without succes, only to be killed by grenade instead of taking care of the problem myself

i honestly like the idea of the bots, but in this state i just cant do anything with them - close/medium/wide formation doesnt have any effect as well
