I have released many mods in Enlisted, some of which containing bazookas or some weapon of the sort. Whenever I test fire them at a cluster of unsuspecting bots, it usually kills only a few or none at all. feel free to share what have you guys experienced and ideas on why this happens. Maybe the devs can fix this?
The IDEA is that it is supposed to be a shaped charge that deals direct blast damage rather than fragmentation which is what is especially lethal to infantry.
The intent is to prevent players from using it like a directed mortar while still being able to kill tanks.
Similar to how the GL only effect infantry but don’t hurt tanks.
Additionally, both of these options require a specific type of troop in order to wield these weapons.
AT launchers by AT troops
Rifle Grenades (GL) by Riflemen
I for one am fine with this logic except for 2 things:
-
Direct hits should kill.
-
Grenades should follow this logic as well. While frag grenades do in fact follow this logic, the explosive packs do NOT.
Instead, explosive packs are allowed to do BOTH roles very effectively, and additionally be carried by ANY troop type, (not limited to AT like the AT launchers are, or RIFLEMEN like the GL are!!!)
Shaped charges explode in all directions like every other explosive. However in 1 of those directions the cone focuses that energy to generate the penetrating slug.
This does not take away any of the explosive force in every other direction - at least not any more so than the usual directionality of the explosive wave.
The casing of most shaped charges is usually just thin sheet metal that yields little shrapnel.
I suspect that adding a heavy fragmentation sleeve for anti-infantry effects would likely greatly lessen the velocity and range, and probably lead it to be used inappropriately and not be available when really needed!
