Rocket Artillery Concept

It’s a new and interesting mechanic, but I think it can be even more polished and gain one effect or another depending on the faction, I mean, let me share some “concepts”: the Soviets have a greater number of shots in exchange for less power, Germans with faster rockets than the other nations, Japan with a mortar projectile (like the one seen in Iwo-jima) of high power but very poor precision, etc.

lol what is the point of adding mortar projectile in rocket artillery? It’s not like they never use any rocket artillery during the war.

Japan used a fair amount of Rocket artillery, especially in the battles of Luzon and Iwo Jima. I believe theirs were mainly man-portable rocket mortars or Naval rockets though.

yep

The so called rocket mortar is just an alternative name for rocket launcher and it fires rocket instead of mortar projectile.

Yes, they used these as a cheaper alternative to artillery pieces due to material shortages during the war. They only had a range of about 2km, but they also had the advantage of being man-portable and allow f the japanese to fire a few salvos then pack up and move before American troops could respond.

In addition, there were also makeshift rockets of varying quality which essentially were made of aircraft bombs with rocket motors attached. They would typically be launched from wooden rails.

There was also this Truck based MLRS, but I believe this was only experimental and never used in combat. Could make a cool premium tho.

I think rocket artillery should be less powerful than normal arty but it could shoot into greyzone. This would be perfect counter for greyzone campers and force them to stay mobile

I definitely like that idea! It’s something small but it would make a big difference.

I understand that the game is a game and the real world is different. Rocket artillery had a shorter range, but explosive charges had greater destructive power.

I honestly wouldn’t mind if both kinds of arty could fire into the grey zone
