These squads should also be able to take specialists of a flamethrower and a mortar.I think this squad should have maximum variety.
That’s a good idea. Small change: Rifle Squads should be able to take a certain number of specialists, regardless of specialization. Currently you get three locked-in choices, having three open specialist slots would make for some fun squad comp.
As much as I love flammenwerfer I don’t think it’s a good idea to put it in SMG, LMG or infantry squad.
They are the most used squad in the game and imo flammenwerfer shouldn’t be everywhere on the battlefield as it should stay a very niche specialist.
Imagine: you rush a building, kill everybody with flammenwerfer than use your 9 member squad to cap the point in 20s…
bolt actions only for Rifle squads and perhaps keep the later Semi auto for the specialists. Then Op assault guns 3 each for the special squads like paratroopers and recon units perhaps adding special infantry squads (Sturmtruppe units and such) asw with same structure that can carry specialists like the other squads.
SMG and LMG dont must have it.
But Infantry must.
It will create a mess! Experience player will exploit this fg42 flammenwerfer9 squad member everywhere. You will create a new meta!
Really. But I have already written that the FG and its like should be limited to paratroops.
I don’t think it would create a new meta or break the game at all. We don’t see loads of flamethrowers now, not because they’re limited to flamethrower squads, but because they’re not that good. If played right, you get to clear a point, but there’s always the chance you get shot instead. They’re not really good enough to have their own squads, but as a utility inclusion in an infantry squad? That works.
As far as limiting infantry to bolt actions only, you’ve lost me. Doing so would make rifleman squads significantly less useful, and less fun to play. I can’t even say I’d like riflemen limited to what they historically had, since German infantry were issued MP40s almost as often as K98s, and the Russians had entire battalions armed with no rifles, only PPSh41s.
Let riflemen have 10 men and to be able to use both SMG and LMG
Considering how generally powerful flametroopers are, and how situationally powerful mortars are, I feel like they were locked into their respective squads with good reason. Especially with how, unlike engi or radio squads, the “main squad” for those troop types doesn’t actually have any particular bonuses to their capabilities.
I know I’m somewhat alone in this regard, but I honestly do think that the rifleman squad is fine as is. Riflegrenades are really dang handy, riflemen can still use fancy select fire guns, and there is real value to just bringing 2 extra bodies into the fight. The rifle 2 squad in tunisia axis is one of my most used there.
This is me on Berlin Ministry Garden. 20+ kills with ROS3 and then fast rush first cap. It’s truly satisfying albeit I don’t do this every time so the other side don’t lose too many players.
