Rifle caliber machine guns, since they’re a rifle caliber why do they hit like a small caliber pistol round, They’re firing the exact same round that the rifles are in most cases.
bc a 75 rnd fast firing OHK gun isnt the best thing to add in a game
Same reason bolt actions magically do more damage than semi autos or MGs. Reasons
Belancing
balance. its a game at the end of the day.
I just had too many rounds today where I was losing duels to guys with rifles with my machine gun because I had to keep hitting them over and over again there’s got to be some sort of happy medium
I’m yet to play the game but it doesn’t seem to be an issue. You can down a player with one round most of the time so the only problem may be that the other soldiers kill you (that’s why I’m in favour of suppression).
A lmg dealing 12 damage per bullet is still pretty deadly if you ask me
And in case of doubt… spray more on target
I was also using an unmodified Berthier, and that might’ve colored my impression a tad.
Short answer:
Balance.
Long answer:
Because a full auto gun with around 21-22 damage (now, after the bolt action buff) would be straight-up broken.
IMHO what Darkflow done here is a perfect balance of realism and well, balance - machine guns have the same damage as semi auto rifles, automatic rifles and battle rifles (and the FG 42 which is a category of its own) but bolt action rifles have more damage due to their low fire rate.
It’s way betten than for example in Battlefield series, where a 7.62mm NATO machine gun is somewhere between a 7.62mm NATO battle rifle and a 9mm Luger SMG, and the 7.62mm NATO sniper rifle is the strongest, all for balance reasons.
MG’s do not have to hit “over and over again” - they have less damage than BA rifles, but it is significantly more than SMG’s and pistols, and 2 shots will kill - and being automatics they can do that.
Sounds like a learn to aim issue.
Vickers Berthier isn’t really fast at firing. Pretty sure whoever shoots first wins. It isn’t really a MG42.
