Considering the downsides LMGs presently have- The fact they can’t even down any soldier with vitality even when maxed makes them inefficient.
The present-day’s LMG damage is a relic of the old pre rework of the weapon damage stats, where every semi auto rifle dealt 12.0 damage by default, and all bolt-action rifles dealt 14.0-15.0 base damage. While every weapon was eventually reworked to have more unique damage starting with the introduction of the Stalingrad update, LMGs were left behind dealing the same old 12.0 damage.
The least they can do is make the damage values consistent with their semi-auto counterparts wherein weapons firing the same cartridge should deal the same amount of damage- With an exception being made for bolt-actions.

do you have some examples to provide? or does this inconsistency apply to every lmg?
Exception include the RD-44s, which fire intermediate cartridges, and the japanese lmgs, which still deal less damage than their SA rifle counterpart.
Every other LMG, regardless of cartridge and caliber deal 12.0 damage base.

i think the farquhar hill is the only semi auto rifle in .303 british and it does really high damage for an SA at 16.8 damage, it might be too much to give all of the BR2 brens that kind of firepower
LMG’s do more damage from 100m range than the SLR’s -
EG - Looking at US weapons in 30-06, SLR’s have 10 m range damage of 12.7, LMG’s (Johnson, M1919, BAR) 12.0, but at 100m the SLR’s are 10.4 the LMG’s 10.8, and the LMG’s continue to have more damage at longer ranges.

I think we should just have realistic and universal damage
why would you want the fg42 and t20 and avt and hei auto rifles to be instantly killing everybody? I don’t think you understand the ramifications of your wish
