The title is reasonably self explanatory.
There have been posts made ages ago about riding on tanks. I would like to again call for that to be implemented.
I would suggest that each armoured car/tank in the game be given a certain number of ‘invisible seats’, which changes depending on the tank/AC.
Eg you could probably fit more soldiers on a Crusader tank then a Sherman.
These invisible seats would work in a similar way to seats in cars/trucks. Players walk up and press F and hop on the nearest ‘seat’. Their squad follows and fills the remaining spaces. Pressing F again means everyone hops off.
Player controlled AIs would be given priority. So if you and your squad is riding a tank and another player wants a seat, an AI will give up their seat for the player.
Using weapons would be the same as in a car/truck.
This leads me to my second point.
At the moment when you’re in an APC and you come under fire or the driver gets killed, everyone just keeps sitting there like its a Hap Hap Happy Day.
I believe this should change. If the driver is shot dead I think that the squad in the APC should immediately exit the vehicle like real life.
In an ideal world theyd also seek cover but I understand thats a bit difficult to code.
If youre under attack Id say soldiers should operate like they do now, shooting back, but if the vehicle is stopped and youre under attack again I believe the squad should automatically exit the truck.
The same goes for when it is parked as a spawn. I dont see why we should have to press F and wait to get out every time.
Finally, AA and AT guns.
I believe players should have priority over AI when it comes to using AT and AA guns (also light/heavy machine guns).
If an AI is using these weapons, a player walks up and the AI automatically hops off. The player would have say, 10-15 seconds to hop on before the AI resumed using it.
It is very annoying when you build an AT/AA gun and some random AI steals it so you cant use it.
Note that everyone’s AI soldiers could be kicked off one of these weapons. The only time it doesnt apply is if its being used by another player.
