now is ridiculous to rifle/machine guns being stopped by light wood walls, I know that the HMG piercing is too high, but that is not the answer.
I was using mg/sniper on the pacific campaign (only the type 97 AT can pierce) and is ridiculous that a 1cm wood wall completely stops a bullet like a metal plate (i understand if is for 9mm or low calibers but in a rifle caliber), is so much better to have a decrease of damage and the bullet can´t pierce over 1-2 walls. I mean, the sandbag is in the game to stop bullets in the first place.
I agree. The HMG needed a reduction in its piercing capabilities, but this current change is not the answer. I even had the issue with wooden poles on Tunisia blocking rifle bullets when previously they would go through small trees.

Wood should not stop rifles or HMGs.

Sandbags should stop pretty much anything smaller than an Anti=Tank Rifle. This includes HMGs.
Sandbags should be encouraged as a counter to HMGs. Putting them up inside of the wooden walls should solve the issue of HMGs ripping the occupants to shreds. If players don’t want to take the time to use engineer functions, that is on them.
HA no
HA yes
Agreed, this is stupid. Nearly any weapon in the game should to varying degrees be able to pierce wooden walls. Especially heavy machine guns.
Even 9mm etc can pierce a lot of wood especially since I don’t think they used hollowpoints much during the war for “legal” reasons
Currently sandbag does stop the HMG bullet, but it can only take 4 hits before being destroyed.
as they should
They should decrease the HMG’s rate of fire and durability, not its penetration, ffs
I’d like to add that they should reduce the velocity of the bullet by a percentage of the initial muzzle velocity every time it penetrate a wooden wall. In reality when the bullet exit it would be tumbling out of the wood. Make it that each wood wall give the bullet a little dispersion.
The reduction of bullet speed and dispersion angle should depend on the angle of penetration and the thickness of the wood. They already have that system for tank armor penetration. An excellent example of this would be the Arma 3 ballistic. Also increase the resource to build HMG.
They are nerfing every other firearms in the game by making the wood impenetrable.
I know that’s how it works currently, as is my point:
Perhaps not stop them indefinitely, but make it take SIGNIFICANTLY more than 4 bullets from the HMG. This way it has a way to counter it, but in the same token, doesn’t stop it entirely. It comes down to making the HMG gunner decide: “do I focus on breaking the sandbags, or do I turn my attention elsewhere?” If they focus on destroying the sandbags, they can. However, if there are other targets to hit, attacking them first may be more important. Either way, it gives a way to get protection from the HMG, without completely removing one of its key traits: being able to shoot through (unfortified) walls.
Yeah once I noticed what people were doing with piercing walls, I would just put sandbags and metal barricades in key areas and they weren’t that good anymore. Then I have the time to destroy them with an anti-tank rifle easy as can be. Not to say that the HMG wasnt overloaded, but nerfing every other weapon with these wall pen changes wasn’t the answer.
Without the wood penetration by HMG, the HMG is absolutely no different from normal (stationary) LMG.
Except the one it can damage tank tracks.
PLEASE give back wood piercing by HMG.
Let’s just hope that it’s quick temporary fix to HMG penetration, and new system based on weapons caliber is comping after holidays (hopefully christmas and not easter)
I agree. They should be able to punch through wood and thin metal, but not through brick, concrete, and sandbags.
If wood huts, walls and doors are going to stop bullets. How about we let the airplanes fly through windmill blades too. LOL.
