Research Tree Improvements

I think that the research tree overall a much better system than the Campaign system … however, there are a couple things I would like to see.

1st: I would like to see the squad icon, changed to show the squad type itself (ie the engineer squad would have a wrench icon alongside the squad icon)

2nd: I would like to see tiers used more effectively. Essentially When you have 9/9 Tier 1 trained (or bought), you may start training Tier 2, even if you don’t have the full requirements. The prereqs should be Tier only. This would also remove the issue of early additions blocking progress to later levels.

So for example: If I train the following 9:

I can then start training the circled Tier 2 and begin working on Tier 2.

While I think this is a fine addition due to the point you made about potential content bloat making the grind worse. It does directly contradict the current system where you have to research everything before unlocks before you can buy them. As far as I’m aware, the developers aren’t going to address this annoying research rule, which makes me think they would be against the idea shared in this post.
