The Soviets should have the M1942 (ZiS-3) 76mm not the Pak 40, it would be very good if they replaced it to improve immersion in the game
i am guessing you would want it to work like the 76mm on the firefly with greatly improved armor penetration
so it being a direct upgrade has nothing to do with the suggestion
I do not understand what ur saying he means it being there instead of the buildable pak40 for engi on soviet side
The gun’s already in-game on the SU-76M premium tank. It would have more penetration than the russian 47mm but less than the german 50mm.
This is a crap. I used captured PAK to destroy IS-2.
Video would look 100 times better if it was a ZiS cannon.
(turning their own weapon against them)
i am saying if it is just a sideways upgrade no difference in performance just looking different, sure thumbs up
but the 76MM British gun on the firefly has much better penetration than the American 75mm if that is what he is trying to do hell no, that would be a straight up upgrade
Given the penetration the gun has in-game(87mm at point-blank,) i’d say no. You could, however, add the 57mm ZIS-2 which is in war thunder on the ZIS-30 tank destroyer.
The pak 40 is a very capable gun.
So capable that it’s difficult to give other nations a same-campaign equivalent that has similar penetration and shell caliber for the purposes of balancing anti-tank and anti-personnel roles.
If we’re using the pak 40, the closest equivalent to penetration and calibers for other nations would be soviet 85mm D-44s, the 3-inch M5 and the Type 5 75mm gun.
The caveat being, well, the soviets would either have too much HE potential with an 85mm, and too little HE potential with the 57mm. The US 76mm would have about half as much HE in its HE shell as a 75mm gun, and the Japanese 75mm was intended to be mounted on vehicles.
Honestly, this would require concessions for factional capability, so it’s a matter of making the factions relatively equitable, without making them reskins of existing field guns.
I miss the old AT guns, it was nice for variety and immersion.
Perhaps they could make it so regular Engineers can build 57mm guns (which do a decent job against most vehicles), and AT squads could build heavy 75mm AT guns.
Sounds like a potential opportunity to limit AT guns to AP ammo exclusively, and introduce light (generally 75mm/3inch) field guns to fire HE?
The game developers previously mentioned that they gave the Soviet faction the Pak 40 anti-tank gun instead of the Zis-3 tank gun because the Zis-3 had lower penetration, affecting game balance. However, if penetration is the main concern, introducing the D-44 gun with projectiles similar to Pak 40 during the later stages of World War II could be a viable solution for the Soviet side without compromising balance.
