50mm mortar is far superior to the 80mm in every way except tank killing and pin point accuracy.
If i wanted to kill a tank with my paras i’d just para behind him and choose AT box.
And if hes in the greyzone id just get in a plane to kill him and if plane is taken and not killing it ill just leave.
The only use against infantry that the 80mm has is hitting say the top of a silo or directly in a trench and that’s a toss up if it actually hits or misses short.
If you’ve ever used either of them you’d know both serve very different purposes.
Higher BR does NOT equal better in this case, i have long chosen the soviet event paras over the premium ones given the box choices (RM-38 or 40 and pzf 100 compared to BM-41 and pzf 60)
I cannot think of any reason anyone would want these other than to hamper paratroopers because of personal bias.
And i can see now i might have some bias as i have my set in stone ways of dealing with a tank but the anti tank mortars are pitiful and require a tank to be marked and sit still for at least a minute.
And you’re left to literally relying on the tanker to be unaware and sit still while hearing mortars.
