There are parts of the map that come with sandbag walls, some of which are windowed, or other various pieces of cover like this. Engineers while being able to build “custom” aren’t able to replicate some of these structures.
-
Trying to repair/ rearm player made structures like AA, AT field gun, and (H)MG nests recently became bugged again to where you aren’t even able to do it, and even before the bug there was issues where it would simultaneously try to break down the structure when trying to repair/ rearm, often leading to issues where teammates would “help” and the meter for destruction would complete before the repair/rearm.

In many locations there are parts of the map design that are impossible to fortify with the current system. Examples are: broken entrances to bunkers, gaping holes in the sides of buildings with rubble stopping placement of structures, cracks that can’t be filled by any current means.
My SUGGESTION is to create a tab of the Engineer selection wheel that is listed simply as “Repair/ Rearm”.
- When used on player built fortifications it fixes them as normal.
- In addition though, sandbag locations that come as part of the default map can be restored for set cost of material points. They act as player owned in regards to points, and if an MG is present, the player that repaired it gets assists from its use.
- Finally, areas of the map of significant interest, primarily those that are within objective areas, would have a multi-stage repair option. The “ghost” of which acts like that of a normal fortification. These ghost fortifications are in these areas by default, and must be filled in by engineers dumping materials into them and spending time “building” them. This would provide a way to fortify structures in a more time efficient, durability efficient, and likely less dangerous to teammates option. So that instead of teams trying to fill these breached walls and such with barbwire and Czech hedgehogs, a more solid wall is erected.
– These fortifications could still be broken however. Explosive ordinance from various sources, TNT mines, and most notably tanks pushing against them would be able to damage them. The amount of health they have is determined by how much engineering resources have been dumped into it. Though keep in mind, it’s multi-stage, and would break down as such. Adding some dynamic change to attacks and defenses.
