Literally no one has had the need for this since Academy was removed.
Make it a side/optional unlock like the pistol slot maybe, but not a hurdle in the XP line

F2P players donāt get anywhere near enough reserves, so I can see why this is still an upgrade. But sure, for a premium player, it seems a bit extraneous.

Itās honestly pointless in general, who the heck is going to have dozens of soldiers in reserve

But why would you need reserve soldiers in the first place?
The whole idea of a large reserve originally was that you could ātradeā several low level soldiers for one high level.
Now I donāt see any point in having any reserve soldiers.

Yeah i like to keep my reserves clean. I only save soldiers that i am attached to rest will either go to different squads or will be sold
canāt generally speak for everyone,
but i do quite have a substantial reserve because of:
- having soldiers of all tiers with different perk numbers ( values )
hence, i might have some assaulters with better vitality over others with more weapons handing etc.
- already fully equipped soldiers in my reserve per br to recruit into newer squads
( and i guess a follow up ) - dedicated soldiers to dedicated weapons
now, granted. newer players and probably the majority do not have such a large reserve as mine. nor have pre veterans numbers of squad that i have because not many managed to research all squads before the merge happened ( me included. iām missing some german moscow squads and some tunisian squads )
and having lots of soldiers allows you to have a diverse line up if needed.
best / different / adapated for various brs.
mostly for veterans.
as it comes to new comers, they donāt have the same amount of reserve numbers because they will not be able to fill equal numbers of squads.
but those perks are still needed to even be able to get some soldiers in the reserve. so you will be able to keep your soldiers instead of being forced to sell them for then replace them with other soldiers that might not get the value that you are looking for. and if needed, reuse them and eventually be able to repurpose them or even just keep them as trophies.

i donāt think those are going anywhere.
those are kinda needed.
and if you are a hoarder of soldiers like me that keeps them for the sake of choise and easy to adjust.
youād end up getting premium either way just to increase the number.
at least, thatās one of the reason why i got it.
EVEN when i researched most of those through almost every squad
OP is not asking to remove them but to make them optional unlocks.

Everyone should have 100 soldiers in reserve as a maximum from the get go, unlocking these and spending points on that is just weird and confusing for new comers.
Every time I think of the regular Enlisted ānoobā,
I actually imagine my dad trying to play the game and navigating through the grind system.
I think he would be very overwhelmed, this reserve unlock is the best example of a system that serves no purpose.

upgrade soldier levels by merging two soldiers of same rank and sacrifice one and wait between 5 minutes and maybe 12 hours or so.

there are plenty of reasons on having it (unless you are for unlimited/big reserve from start):
- keeping the shit soldiers in there that you will put into squads you dont want to use after you finish grinding them
- keeping max stat lower class soldiers there after you switched to higher class for quick fill of any squad you want to play
- buying lots of soldiers at once so you can get max stat one (e.g. i buy 10 or 20 soldiers at the time if i want few soldiers with max stat)
