A tank grey zone camp fest, why does it even exist

To teach newcomers how to destroy a tank from a distance. And no, you don’t need another tank to do it.

You can use engineers to build cannons, you can use an AT weapon to try to get rid of it, and last but not least the easiest and most effective way is to take a plane.

Anyone who complains about greyzone camping is just lazy to solve problems. In much of the case, it’s also possible to completely ignore the camper by simply going where he can’t shoot. That includes the objectives. There’s basically always spot on objectives that’s safe from campers.

Fun fact 2.
Bombs from planes are stronger than KV1 or any other tank

fun fact, AA gun is not friendly to your planes

Dang dude you just destroyed the guy!
Other than “aahhh gray zone!” In a campaign where AT Rifles are useful, Quarry is genuinely a fun map. There’s lots of moments you can practice your long range shooting and playing with the hit reg so you can delete dudes from a distance with irons. I rarely have a bad time on that map in all honesty, and gray zone tanks have literally never been a game breaking or “I’m so butthurt now” issue. Besides, most of them barely have any HE filler in Low Tier and can hardly do much to anyone regardless
Dude’s just a crybaby who doesn’t want to learn how to drop a bomb on the enemy

Almost no one builds AA, and even then it’s most often after you do your first strafe so you have that grace period to send that tank to the fiery depths via death from above

Nothing better than one-shotting T-50 from GrB at 200m. Let’s ignore the fact that I spent the last 3 minutes ladder aiming with treetops as point of reference.
But situations like this made me decide that I (and everybody else) probably should have a dedicated engineer squad for situations like this, and to swat plane fans from the sky, and then start greyzone camping myself with the AT gun (not really, playing the objective is much more fun, but there are situations that call for this).

Yeah AT Guns can do some damage in Low Tier, and being able to build them at any time gives a huge boon to a team’s AT capability. I personally don’t run the Engie Squad often, but I use bombs for my gray zone problems. They do solve a lot of issues though

“Boom!”

I assume you have a good bit of experience using planes. It’s very easy to forget how hard it is to learn aiming a 50kg/60kg/100lb at a tank.

I personally spend quite a while in the practice mode for each new plane trying to figure out where my bomb goes, but there’s still so many factors to it that it’ll take me many, many matches until I can get a direct hit with such a bomb reliably.

So while using a bomb appears to be the easy option for a veteran of several years, beginners need other means (or bomber scopes, to bring that topic back ) and since those can’t be explosion packs/TNT, what are they left with?

  • An AT gun constructed in the field of view of the enemy tank?
  • AT rifles that cannot penetrate most German tanks whatsoever?

There are several planes with 250kg on BR 1/2. So if you are not good with smaller bombs, just use different planes.
That’s kinda logical.

I’m sure the fact that bigger bombs are easier to aim is a big factor for the high demand for larger/more ordnance. But it’s also a balancing concern, so I disagree with the general credo of “Just bring bigger bomb 4head”. I’d rather they open up 50kg etc. to a more casual audience.

Well, that doesn’t make much sense. The only solution is to make 50kg more deadly/powerful.
Meaning, you would basically just scale up all bombs via some buff.
But 50kg will stay obsolete to more bigger bombs anyway.

The ability to handle smaller bombs only rewards the better player with a greater variety of aircrafts he can use. I think that’s a pretty fair reward for the effort he put into training his skills with smaller bombs.

I was referring to giving any sort of guidance for aiming them. Or at the very least, better feedback on where your shot landed because most of the time, the impact cam in the top right only shows what a single splinter from your bomb did :joy:

No
I am unwilling to use 75MM anti-tank guns and aircraft or any combat fortifications to deal with those long-distance enemies.
So I will sneak attack them from the same distance with a sniper rifle
Communication smoke grenade? What is that? I only know how to call for artillery strikes and bombers

This damn map design caused us to lose.
Officials should delete this map
Because I can’t win the game without using my brain

German fighter has 250X1 50X2 bombs
And they are only level 2
Not to mention those 200X2 and 500X1 bombers
I believe they can handle it

As for aiming?
If you don’t have enough skills, I believe that you will get better results by directly ramming the tank.
Because even if the tank is not destroyed, other friendly aircraft will destroy it.
Instead of spending 1 minute and 30 seconds going back and forth to carry out an ineffective attack
At this time, the opponent may have destroyed 3 to 5 teams.

But I agree that 100 pounds is the worst bomb
Not only the scope is small but also the quantity is small
The turning performance and 20MM of the Japanese and German forces can easily defeat aircraft carrying these bombs.

how do you fly
Facing the enemy at a 45-degree angle?

Don’t dive at 45 degrees
Because the enemy has absolutely enough time to find and put the anti-aircraft gun into your face

Try a nearly vertical dive
Raise to an altitude of 900 meters close to the target
Point the nose down and start a high-angle dive
Shut down the engine and start correcting the trajectory
The bomb is dropped at a distance of 300 to 150
Immediately pull it up, increase the output, and switch the spoiler to combat mode.
Wait for the kill prompt after 5 seconds and escape from the battlefield

Pointless tread, Quarry is one of the fairest map for anti tank tactics you have so much space that you can build AT gun anywhere and destroy enemy tank, you can spawn a tank and drive a bit further and hit if from another angle, you can use planes and bomb them. At gunners are also great there if you know how to aim at long distances.

I wish more maps would be designed like that. You can use various types of squad types there not just tanks but also sniping, Engineers, mg gunners and usual assaulters or paratroopers (only Soviets…)
