Remove Stale-ingrad and Rzhev from BR V

  1. Doesn’t make sense
  2. Not even a good battlefield to begin with (was expecting the grim stalingrad setting like those in the movies instead of plain wide straight roads with token props here and there map)
  3. Give more Normandy and Berlin map varieties instead

What we need is extremely claustrophobic Berlin metro and Reichstag map for pure infantry showdown AND 1944 low countries map for vehicular combat instead of whatever the hell is in stale-ingrad and rzhev battleground (these maps are truly ass to play in)

I actually enjoy both maps, though I do wish they would do a bit to make them a bit more claustrophobic, more collapsed building, more desperate knife fights in the rubble type deal. Though I think limiting more maps from certain BR ranges would be nice.

Personal mileage may vary…

I happen to like Stalingrad maps (both the factory and city) and I truly love Rzhev, which has the largest playing area to date (grey zone pretty far in it).

It’s truly disheartening to see stalingrad was represented as big city with wide roads you can cross safely even walk all along it’s path while historically its a rat war where people go to unimaginably claustrophobic spots just to get the jump on the enemy.

Expecting grimdark and bleak setting like from the old Stalingrad movie but is presented stereotypical american avenues with cheerful colors to walk around lol

Rzhev is by far the most disappointing. For me it’s just slightly urbanized and flattened moscow for higher BR.

Mmmh have you played old Red Orchestra series?

I believe they recreated that ambiance… roads were literally blocked and needed tnt for tanks to pass. Nooks and crannies everywhere… honestly it was frightening. Could also try to cross a part of the frozen river… sometimes to fall through to certain death…

But, I truly love the factory devs created here. Perhaps MORE than the one in Red Orchestra. For that one they outdone themselves

Oh I completely agree, I think it would be a great map to test out snowy or rainy weather on. More rat runs/shallow trenches built under rubble. Holes blown in walls to allow infantry to just go one building to the next, honestly Id like to see smoke rising from the city as well with the random fires across the city, the thundering sound of artillery and gunfire from neighbouring districts.

MAN Red Orchestra was something else even with today’s standards. Top shelf WW2 shooter right there.

The factory map is a mess in terms of balance, but from the feels of it, its doing well. You feel disorientated often, though I feel the front width is a bit big for such small matches, it would do well if you turned the map 90 degrees and assaulted length ways up the factory I think.

I concurr, factory is too wide for no reason

no,make now moscov, tunisia and similar maps now they go br 5 now, if we are going screwd it, let’s do it properly and bring chaos!

I agree with stalingrad looking like it hasnt even seen a bomb at first glance
my suggestion
Get rid of most of that bright green vegitation
make the sky a bit more gray and reduce lighting from it
Ill try to do that in the mods editor to show how stalingrad could look cooler and more stalingrad-y

Now as for the map design itself
I love it mainly because of the cqb and climbing atop tall buildings to launch a panzerfaust or set up a machinegun and mow down the enemies crossing out in the open
But i feel as if stalingrad could also use a map thats more average
Maybe with alot of basic apartments and less grandios open squares and more rubble filled streets
And tight passages
Maybe even underground tunnels as used in the supplying of Pavlov’s house!

you like the stalingrad tractor plant?

Guilty!

Yes I like it. The building with furnaces can see really hectic cqb, and there’s a lot of passageways to use, as well as higher ventage points… it’s just not ideal for tankers (ironic as it produced tanks)

rzhev ahh yes, that conquest map in which tank dominates

ill admit that
there is 1 mission that i love too
Where the enemy advences from the north most point of the map
Im sure you know what im talking abt considering its ur fav map
Then i get in a tank
Go into the trees and farm
And if we lose the objective
I go with a machinegunner squad to that tall building just south of the gate

Moscow, Rzev, and Stalingrad should be early war maps, and as such should NEVER see BR4 gear - while Normandy, Berlin and Ardennes are late war maps and should NEVER be matches as BR2.

If one really likes to play all maps he should play more BR3, but the fact that BR4 can play in those early war maps is extremely annoying.

As a BR II and BR III player I like some of the Normandy and Ardennes maps.
I do agree though, and its one of the many reasons we need early war maps.
Variety for one (not sure why games ignore the early war so much).

Ive previously posted adding France-Poland-Belgium-Netherlands as one tech tree which would have various early and late war places to fight, along with theatres like the desert war (France), and the Dutch East Indies (Netherlands).

Make current Ardennes more snow based, Normandy more late war, add 1940 Low Countries maps for lower BRs and Battle for France.

Paris would be really good since they could use the same base map but for early war and late war add differences like change the types of vehicle props and for late war Paris more rubble (which also makes sense for more experienced players).

Regarding Eastern Front. I HATE Eastern Front maps. I never enjoy any of them.

Rzhnev was so unnecessary (no one asked for it) and doesnt offer anything new. Ive previously suggested the Battle for Vienna, Battle for Prague or Battle for Budapest.

The devs did admit they were abandoning historical accuracy. Nevertheless as is posted I dont see why we cant have certain battles more focused on earlier or later war weapons.
There is also the idea which they are kind of trying but only half-hardheartedly of ‘generic’ battles based on different theatres. So like instead of a specific North African or Middle Eastern battle, just a generic desert map.
But one then questions why we havent therefore got more variety in desert maps; they are all ‘Tunisia’ and all the same. Tobruk or a Tobruk-inspired map would be great, likewise Cairo as a desert urban map.

For the Pacific Manila could be like Paris in having both an early war and late war version.

Remove Normandy and the Bulge from BR 1 & 2 too.
