Remove or Re-categorize "Guerillas"

The notion that guerillas/freedom fighters played any significant role in major WWII battles is absolutely absurd. They should not account for even a fraction of belligerents in this game, yet in my experience, they currently account for MOST of the squads running around western Europe…

Guerillas should either be removed or re-categorized as Airborne infantry or special operations. It is MUCH more realistic that these types of soldiers would be completing missions behind enemy lines.

Stop ruining this game. Thanks!

They have commando level fire power so they definitely fail to portray poorly equipped and untrained partisans.

The little Yugoslav in my heart disagrees.

The fact we got gorillas before officer squad is baffling, the idea of a squad that buffs and plays around offmap support is so much more interesting than spawncamping noobs in dark zone

I’m afraid there is no turning back now, and I don’t think they’ll remove them. What I’d like is that they eventually get rid of the grey zone all together and make playable areas bigger, as well with capture zones. Like Big Action / Modern Conflict does it. That’d be perfect, but we can only dream…

i preffer the name of reccon squads since they were the ones who trully were infiltrated behind enemy lines for sabotage

They are commandos through and through.

“Guerrillas” is a really bad name. If they really truly want to stick with it they should at least call the class “guerrillero”…

Guerillas don’t necessarily just mean partisan. They represent various units such as commandos, raiders, and espionage as well. All these units do the same job of infiltrating enemy lines, sabotage, etc

At first I once thought that they should be called commandos but then again not every unit in this class is exactly a commando. I think guerilla may be fine since it kind of groups all these units in the job that they do.

saboteur?

Personally I think guerilla sounds better because its already in the job description. A guerilla

  • raids enemy territory
  • sabotages enemy infrastructure
  • spies on enemy and gathers intel

Saboteur is good. Makes much more sense than “guerrilla”

yea i prefer saboteur like what i originally suggest for them to be call

I disagree. Espionage, yes. Commandos, nope. According to the game and this forum, they are not commando/special forces military units. The US/Brits get the French Resistance (provided intel, sabotage/disruption, NOT trained military units). Soviets have the Soviet Partisans, similar to the French Resistance but on the eastern front. The Germans get the Volksstrum, which was basically kids and old men toward the end of the war. In no way, shape, or form a “commando” unit haha.

None of these groups are elite military units of the time like the British Commandos, US Special Service Force, or German Brandenburgers.

*with material support of both western and eastern allies if I remember correctly

Funnily more western support actually, the Soviets had other problems to deal with…

As I wrote in my own post:
When it comes to the “lore”, this class is essentially a 5 year old smashing his toys together because it’s cool.

Edit:
To be clear, it’s not that the design by 5yo is inherently bad, it can be actually cool. But it’s not cool when it’s placed in a product for 30yo.
Or to put it more bluntly: first you advertise the game as somewhat historical and realistic and then you introduce this joke. Not cool, stupid.

It’s a shame French Resistance gets all the hype when in reality Yugoslav and Belarussian partisans in particular were so much more impactful and deadly.

Funny enough, in the Russian side of the forum this update is literally called “Partisans”

Haha. Guess it’s not much worse than this dude on a Normandy map.

Saboteurs would be the best name since it can include both regular and irregular troops
