Remove Mortars

Name Implies all. Remove mortar squads entirely from the game. I have seen the evolution of mortars, from their introduction in Berlin OAT, then saw them get a massive buff with the introduction of Engineer Ammo Crates in CAT. They add nothing but infuriating gameplay to the game. I propose a simple solution: Complete Removal. Thank you.

I agree completely. Mortars aren’t fun at all for anyone but k/d padders. There is no counterplay. There is no cooldown. It’s just constant stun effects until it eventually kills you or you get shot because you’re stunlocked.
Mortars serve no purpose as they are right now except to be a cheap shitter weapon fired from spawn indefinitely.

Personally I think they should just not let mortar men use ammo crates. Currently in game I feel scummy every time I cant reroll the mortar battle task and have to use them.

yeah i was about to suggest that they get rid of the ability to refill mortar ammo

As a quick fix, just make mortars unusable outside the enemy’s playable area and make the rounds have a tracer effect so you have a better chance of hunting them down. There, counterplay added and mortars balanced.

Just make them smoke mortars, boom. you could give it to one of your bots and them when you mark something he automatically starts firing on that location, he also isnt effective by “you are too far from your bots” thig

mortars suck lmao
in this current OBT build it is possible for someone to fill their entire mortar squad with mortars, sit just outside the map and fart mortars onto cap points
it adds nothing to the actual gameplay aside from what can only be described as constant artillery fire
replace the mortars with something cooler, like a premium woman sniper squadron that costs fifty dollars usd

Mortar cap is two people in a squad. The issue is that they can refill ammo and thus put down constant mortar fire.

just make them harder to use

Seems like a horrible solution to be honest. Just make the fire rate slower and have them work like the knee mortars in Rising Storm. You get only get 8 mortar rounds and the aiming is all on you guessing where the enemy is by changing your range.

Thats literally how they work right now. Except you can refill ammo infinitely, thats what makes them broken

Exactly, removing mortars because of the ammo issue is stupid. Just add a bigger cooldown to getting ammo.

Honestly you shouldn’t be able to refill ammo to begin with for mortars

Nope,

I disagree.

Mortars has been nerfed already. And tweaked multiple times.

From Berlin ( the first time they were introducted) to now,

And they have been made worse.
They Lost the ability to aim through mini map, which its ok considering that was too easy, but than they becomed really slow in terms of rounds hitting the ground. You can literally fire a couple of rounds, move in that direction, ad get killed by your own mortar. Not… realistic at all.
For some reason, they lost tracers tracks as well, making them harder to spot.

But yet, they can still fire inside spawn and reload ammo through boxes.

My guess, is that they should limit the usage of the mortars inside spawn, and put a cooldown on each refill ammo.

Like, mortars are not that good and pretty weird, but they become a nightmare as people can just spam despite all its flaw.

And mortars are fun, click the map, put a mark, adjust the targeting system, and fire a couple of meters away.

But, this is just based on my experience.
Cheers.

mortars and airplanes were fun the first 2 hours of gameplay, then people started to exploit them
and now is not fun.
And we started to see the consecuences, i saw many people just rage quit from intense mortar+ airplane use, people play to have fun not to spawn and get killed randomly 1 minute after

All it changed is that you have to make 3 additional clicks to have the same result. Unnecessary complication in my opinion.
And if you don’t know that you can place marker on the map, then you fire at points because it’s the only place you know range to.

i personally like the change.

it’ requires a bit of delay insthead of instantly knowing where you hit.

as i found out, there’s also “bullet deviation” for mortars ( which does make sense after all )

In my opinion it does more harm than good. You can delay mortars in more user friendly ways.
