Welcome to another episode of obvious flaws!
I can’t fathom why someone who had access to knowledge of how the AI behave, actually had the idea allowing friendly fire to effect them.
TLDR on top of a bunker with my engineer team, place barbed wire at the entry, then stood back about 10-15 m. and watched as every AI in my squad run back and forth through the barbed wired killing them, tried to order them to regroup, and to hold post, didn’t matter,
Well, now you know how AI behaves and should act accordingly around barbed wires. Disabling friendly fire damage on it will open numerous exploits.
In a previous post of mine, I cursed as heretic cause I mentioned: “They should remove friendly fire from Roadkill with vehciles, and from Barbed wires…”
I dont know…noone see how dumb is the AI and kill themselves with these things? Thats why we write these topics.
It doesn’t matter how dumb AI is, removing friendly fire from barbed wire is just really bad solution. It will allows to fill up capture point with barbed wire, without any downside to you.
I think it’s wouldn’t be that chaotic and awful thing…but thats my opinion…dev will decide
bruh the AI is some kind of special, mostly it you use the alt menu and set them to stay close, they aren’t as bad, but god damn they are absolutely sub brick, one second they see though solid objects, the next they found a wall that must taste amazing, viik you’re about as helpful as the ai’s right now my dude.
If you want to complain about AI, do that, but name the topic correctly. Your suggestion is to remove friendly fire from barbed wire, there is no justification for that as it’s extremely abusable. Get it?
I get you’re about as dense as the Ai lmfao
if you’re unable to see the flaw in losing a whole squad to a mechanic that you’re supposed too use, then maybe their a job or something someone like you can do, idk maybe bottle returns or something!

I use barbed wire to barricade my MG spots from flanking, for 2 campaigns already, never lost a single AI to them. Learn to play.
Removing friendly fire for barbed wire would be easily abusable. So, I don´t think this would be a good idea. If anything, it would make the game worse.
If you hurt yourself on your own barbed wire, that’s your issue. AI does hurt themselves quite easily barbed wire so maybe an improvement in how AI evades it could help.
And he got the point and all we need
I’ve never had my bots take more than superficial damage from barbed wire.
Allowing players to surround themselves with obstacles that they aren’t hindered by just turns fortification into a mindless system.
It might be necessary to put restrictions on where Engineers can build barbed wire or to remove it altogether. Sandbag nests can be annoying too, but to a lesser degree. Those times when I go into buildings and see that friendly or enemy engineers have choked up the stairwells and/or hallways with barbed wire… it’s so ridiculous. How about no barbed wire in buildings whatsoever?
As for removing friendly fire from friendly barbed wire, that’s just silly and unrealistic. From a gaming perspective it would be convenient, but realistically speaking, nah, that’s foolish.
Maybe try not leaving them alone in a capture point for two minutes? It takes considerable time to set up such defenses.
Except there already isn’t a downside because most people spam barbed wire and sit behind it…
Which can be blown up by a single explosive pack without counter because the enemy is hiding behind it instead of protecting it in front of it? Yeah not an issue.
Barbed wire is already a joke that is very limited in use since it cannot be stacked on anything (not even on a sandbag walls).
Instead of nerfing them further you can outright remove them, because effect would the same as further nerfs, only easier to do.
And because they’re behind it they can’t escape or pursue you via the route they blocked off.
Even without a detpack just toss in a frag and they can’t do anything about it
