Rename no, otherwise it would ruin the excitement form rolling soldier with good/funny name.
But you should be able to give him nickname for free.

Yes they should be replaced with appearance orders in the loot boxes which actually have value, and you need quite a lot of them because of all the different campaigns (and the fact sometimes clothing you bought seems to disappear).
Either that or a small amount of silver like 100 silver, but I think appearance orders would be more useful for the lowest level prize in the boxes.

At least let us sell call sign orders for silver.

What sucks for me is when I change a name, then figure out I misspelled it and have to either live with it, or wait6 months till I get another call sign change order. 
Yeah, it sucks when your a terrible speller, and to lazy to look the correct spelling up beforehand.

The only use of callsign orders is to call you tankers like
XXX “loader” XXX
XXX “gunner” XXX
to see if you still have the reload perk after taking casualties.
