Remove ammo refill for mortars

You dont need to have a fire control computer to simply look at the direction of where a sounds comes from. Look too far to the left = the sound is louder in your right ear of your headphone, and vice versa. When both are equal, walk forward and you will find your enemy mortar team.

Yes, giving a magic circle to someone is unrealistic, your own logic states it as such: “you cant predict the location accurately yourself, you need computers for that (that do not exist in 1941, mind you), so i want to give everyone a magic circle that removes the need for such computer”

You never mentioned you wanted to use it for counter-battery firing with your own mortar. If you want counterbattery fire IRL, you would have spotters getting out there and marking locations, which you can do ingame as well with a teammate.

Agreed, mortars shouldn´t be allowed to spam like that under any circumstances.
Rewarding teamwork is one thing, allowing people to be cancer on purpose is the other. (For same reason people teamed up in their shiny Ba-11s to spawncamp enemy team until its over… it is same dose of cancer, just in different coat).
If mortars should be allowed with teammate to refill ammo (considering engineer should be removed from their squad), it should be only limited amount per squad spawn.

Yes, I can hear direction, but range is mostly guessing. If thay can be somwehere between 100m and 500m it’s quite hard to shoot directly at them.
Computers are used nowdays, than it was math and people doing calculations. Americans were great at artylery things.
Yes, I want to do that with mortar. Artylery takes long time to shoot after alerting enemy so it would allow them to flee.
No, I don’t want to rely on my team mates. NEVER!!! Once I played as tank and I got killed by enemy tank on our spawn. Noone spotted it and there were about 4 players around it, tying to do god knows what because deffinitly not to destroy it. This is the same problem as with bompers, they bomb blind.

is it too hard to use the Mk1 eyeball and simply see where they are?

But not in 1941

You can math too, just move 200m laterally and use the 2 diffrent directions you get out of that to determine distance

Why not use a simple rifle or grenade?

Then you must move up yourself to spot where they are visually.

If you can: a) see them b) shoot them, than why nobody does that? If you can do it than what is the porblem with mortars? It’s not mooving target, even I would hit it with my potato aim.
I’m talking about taking out enemy mortar whitch is on the other side of the map and is shelling cap zone.
Ok, I agree with locating enemy mortar. Yet 99% of the players won’t do that for various reasons (lazyness, stupidity, etc.). I don’t want to rely on small group of good players to save the day and kill mortarman while the others are just commiting suicide on the cap point. I know that this is how world works but still. I’m just tired of idiots in my team (I talking about all games, not this game specificly).

Because they can sit in spawn and shoot from there. And I have been advocating for not allowing them to shoot inside spawn.

A magic circle wont fix that, it will only be a giant middle finger to anyone that doesnt have mortars themselves: “Oh look, here is a mortar team sitting in their spawn that you cant touch”

Then do not play team vs team videogames, or go play competitive where everyone tryhards. Because 80%+ of players are blind or retarded. Also, some of your teammates are purely AIs. Like 3 players + 9 bots vs 5 players + 7 bots in a supposed 12v12 match

Ok, full agree. I surrender.

You can make a pretty accurate presumption given direction just by looking at what’s in that direction on the map. If there’s a trench, built-up area, or draw along that line, the mortar is almost definitely there.

If you wanna get really fancy, you can try triangulation, but that’s not really necessary. A couple times now I marked a guesstimate just for someone else to use that guesstimate to zero in to the precise location.
