I think it would be worth taking a page from Call of Duty: World at War’s book and have some of soldiers be walking wounded.
Along with taking the Volksturmm units and mixing in plain clothes and uniformed soldiers, example have all the trooper and bomber type soldiers in plain clothes but the rest in uniform.
