It really was a mechanic that I found very interesting, but watching different clips and having tried the test server for a few minutes on my cardboard laptop, I came away completely disappointed. This mechanic even looks infinitely superior in Tommy’s Big Action mod, the rockets have a more natural trajectory and you can see how they leave the horizon, giving that effect that they were actually fired by ground artillery (in this case, the Katyusha) like seen in the following clip
While in official games said attack appears from directly above the sky, and, not only that, but I also had faith in the sound, I really expected to hear the iconic Katyusha, but they simply recycled the sound of the planes and the calliope…
I hope that in future updates, this mechanic and its sound effect will be perfected

is the tank pillbox usable (the tank turret buried in concrete)
yes
anyway, for the the thread at hand,
yeah, tommy’s rockets don’t spawn out of thin air like rocket arty does…

They promised 24 rockets, but sometimes only 2 fall actually

Personally I don’t like the rocket arty at all.
It’s just normal arty with a skin. Also slightly buffed, probably to encourage ppl to but it.

They could’ve adjusted the regular arty to be shells from 105 mm guns (Japan produced 1,100; America produced 10,200; Germany produced 10,265) so that at least killing tanks consistently with arty isn’t paywalled. Or, instead of standardizing the same 105 mm for all four nations, they could’ve used this update to give each nation its version of light and medium artillery barrages. It could’ve looked something like this:
-
US:
-Light barrage: 75 x 272 mm R
-Medium barrage: 105 × 372 mm R
-Smoke screen
-Bombers
-Supply drop
-
Germany:
-Light barrage: 75 x 200 mm R
-Medium barrage: 105 x 155mm R
-Smoke screen
-Bombers
-Supply drop
-Rocket barrage for premium
-
Japan:
-Light barrage: 75 x 294mm R
-Medium barrage: 105 x 243mm R
-Smoke screen
-Bombers
-Supply drop
-
Soviets:
-Light barrage: 76.2 × 385 mm R
-Medium barrage: 122 x 284mm R
-Smoke screen
-Bombers
-Supply drop
-Rocket barrage for premium
So, no matter which of these two options is chosen, two outcomes are assured:
- The chance for artillery to kill tanks is not paywalled, thus nullifying pay-to-win allegations.
- The Rocket Barrage is still premium only, thus ensuring that this ability is unique.
But sadly, Darkflow just didn’t think this subject mattered enough and this wasn’t thought of. Maybe @tommyZZM could incorporate this into the Big Action mod and pioneer a way for the devs to follow suit.
