Rebalancing of AVS-36 and AVT-40

Why does the AVT-40 come after the AVS-36 in the research tree when it does less damage and has worse recoil, while only having marginally better accuracy and reload time? There is pretty much no reason to even research the AVT. Either their positions should be swapped in the tech tree, or they need to be rebalanced to make the AVT-40 better. A historically accurate buff for the AVT would be an increased fire rate and reduced recoil per shot, as in real life the AVT-40 had a rate of fire of 750 rpm, rather than the 600 (660 upgraded) rpm in game.

Because that’s how USSR tech tree is concepted. For the exactly same reason SU-85m comes after T-35/85. Even though it’s significantly worse. There are many others examples. PPS-42 is better than PPS-43. RD is better than maxim tokarev…

I actually prefer the PPS-43 and Maxim-Tokarev over the PPS-42 and RD-44. Those at least have enough differences to make whichever one you think is better more of a personal choice. With the AVT there is just literally nothing better except a marginal accuracy improvement and a reload speed that’s .2 seconds faster.

I would solve the whole AVT-40 dilemma by adding 20 round magazines to AVT-40 while AVS-36 would stay as it is.

I don’t think they ever made 20 round mags for the AVT-40. I only know of the 15 round ones.

As it would turn out, the AVS-36 also has an even higher fire rate irl than it does in game, clocking in at 800rpm. So really they should just increase both of them to their irl rates of fire, equalize the damage, and make the AVT more controllable, since its muzzle brake design should reduce the horizontal recoil more, while the AVS’ brake design would impact the vertical recoil more.

For visual Recoil and reload time, that 0.2s does matter.

I don’t know what to complain about here, if you prefer AVS you can even save the xp of researching AVT, for there is nothing after AVT.

nah, it was fine before.

But, AVS received a major buff not too long ago… Which made it better than AVT.

Devs just didn’t bother to switch them around.

Visual recoil does not affect the actual recoil itself so the only diff is AVT having slightly faster base reload but lose to AVS partial reload speed

Is anyone going to bring up the fact that both were virtually uncontrollable in FA while ruining barrels in as few as 200 rounds?

We know, only FG42 and M2 carbine were successful SF rifles during WW2 in reality, but this is just a video game.

Also mosin dragoon gets unlocked before m91/30 and fedorov before as 44
