The arty queue is annoying, not fun and too slow especially if there’s other radio operators.
It is not necessary, a better option not to make “line” would be to use the mortars
hmmmm the radio operator squad is worth playing in fact as it pretty effective also i wouldn’t consider it too slow before it was just constant arty spam.
There’s an unlock that drops the cooldown for the radio squad.
I think he means the situation when there are multiple radio squads with 1 min. cooldown and are fighting among one another who can call it and when there are a lot of them if he is not fast enough others may simply skip him all the time.
Yeah the queue is ridiculous. Radio Op only useful if you are the only one.

I find myself call arty only 3-5 time/match. The queue is real but it is what it is. and I think they work great now. no need for any change…
I rember the good old times on the last objective in swamp hiding in the bunker of the spawn, and spamming arty on the Gustav.
Or slot a sniper in the mortar squad and use him to spot and mark targets
Its actually game breaking ai manipulation if you know how to use it and don’t put it direct on point
Arty squad is situational and sometimes extremely effective. However even when situation is not favorable, with engineer, MG and a sniper it is far for useless. It is OK in rotation. You just should not stick to it’s arty role if arty is not good in current moment. Be flexible. However I always keep an arty squad in stack.
As of radio operator in general, in all my squads I have one, just like an engineer. The simple rule - if you can call arty strike - call, If you can build a rally point - build. The rest can wait.
In Tunisia, if you are attacking, the Radio Operator is Life. That smoke Barrage timed correctly can win games all on its own.
I can’t wait until they bring it to the other campagins.
even tho the arty strike has now very little “killing potential”, it is still extremely powerful, because it lets you destroy spawn radios from a safe distance.
That alone makes the radio operator a must have in every battle, it still makes you win or lose the battle.
I will say tho, maybe the radio squad itself could get a buff, like better stats / soldier options, or what not… but the arty stike is good as it is.
For ppl who like to play the indirect fire support, I think the mortar squad should be the way to go, thus we need a fundamental change how the mortar squad works.
Maybe old school ammo refill could come back, with the drawback of a massive decreased Max mortar range, so that you’ll have to get closer to the frontline or something.

Might be cool if radio operator automatically marked every target he sees. It would be worth playing one then.
Imo its just at the sweetspot. Not too powerful but still packs the killing capability especiatly against those who dont take cover or stands still.
Only thing id do for current arty would be removal of that red circle.

Wrong, so wrong. If there’s 2 squads in play, it equals a permanent barrage on the map. Each strikes last around 30 secs, you have a 1 min cooldown. Once your strike ends, you must wait 30 secs… but your budy can start his.
It’s a great area denial tool.
