In the upcoming holidays, I plan to create a mod about the Korean battlefield (specifically, related to the US military’s offensive from October to November 1952).
In history, the 8th Company of the Chinese Volunteer Army remained in the tunnel for 14 days despite logistical lockdowns, resisting fierce US shelling and charging.
Inspired by historical events, in this mod, I plan to give the defensive team limited manpower, while the offensive team unlimited manpower. However, the attacking party must successfully capture the strategic goal within the specified time, otherwise it will be considered a failure. (This is a bit like WT’s defense (PvE) mode)
However, I am currently unsure how to implement this mechanism, especially how to achieve attack time limitations
you can set the time on the cap zone for the attackers, so that after a specific ammount of time, they will fail if they didn’t captured the zone in time.
just type " time " in the capzone properties and test it a bit.
the only problem, is that the UI it’s going to be a bit misleading.
A, it won’t show the time left until there are 3/4 minuts missing.
B, the attackers ticket number will still be displayed.
perhaps try with confrontation point, get rid of the locker on timer and tweak exponentially the enemy tickets. ( which, visually, might look slighlty better as there won’t be numbers but lines instead )
so that people that will play will realize after a while that their objective is not to kill, but to protect the objective. ( actually, a confrontation point is not ideal, i mean, it could, but it depends. from your taste and perspective. but the timer feature is present in almost all type of objectives )
and additionally, if you want to stick more informations for the player, use the briefing node.
then, on the capture point, since it’s going to be only one, type in the capzone name ( Name of the objective ) + PRESS F1 FOR INFORMATIONS
therefore people will be able to read it. and eventually press f1 to see the info pannel. as we can’t force it upon players.
Thanks a lot for info
I can’t wait to try this out!
Best of luck in your endeavor!
