I’ve just found out about the fact that you can buy an extra slot for the squads to bring in battle (for 490 Golds).
So my question is buying that slot would be applied to all nations or just the one nation im buying it for ?

I’d wait. The anniversary’s coming up soon. Which means discounts. There’s a good chance that there will be a 50% off premium account for a year (2000 golds) that will add 2 slots to all nations for as long as you have it active.
It’s also possible that there will be discounts on slots, but I wouldn’t put much faith in that.
Gonna be honest, it ain’t necessary. I’m still running the basic 3 infantry and 1 vehicle. Plus of course the Preemie slot when I have the option to of course, but that’s Preemies I rarely use em anyways outside the APC
The game is entirely playable without buying slots. Not to mention part of the fun is figuring out what squads to bring! Do you go generalist that can semi adapt to most situations? Do you specialize at the risk of being less useful in certain situations? Do you run the 9 man Rifle Squad or the Flametrooper Squad? Do you just put Radio Ops in every squad or bring the Radio Op Squad and pick the other choice in your other squads? How many do you put Engies in? Do you bring the Engie Squad for more versatility on constructions?
This is part of the fun. The strategy of Enlisted. The shooty shooty bang bang is fun and the meat and potatoes of any FPS game, but the parts that make you think and sacrifice one thing for another are a fun all of their own
