Question about the bombers

i play nomandy on the german side

and I have now got the ju 188 a2

when do you drop the bombs and at what height?

for personal experience, if you have doubts and you are not sure, just try the pratice game mode. it’s free. and you can’t never go wrong.

with this being said, i usually take as a reference the tallest building of the map. you can’t never go wrong with that one either.

than, your nose have to point that, and you keep the attitude higher of twice the size of that building. than, you just adjust the direction ( usually between the enemy spawn and the objective) considering that you have 6 bombs, you will most likely hits many targets and deal good damage. making a good carpet run.

keep in mind that buildings might make your bombs bounce.

use also that tactic if an airplane is chaising you, you have some chances that he might gets caught by one of your bombs explosion. but be carefull because you might kill your self with it if you are too attached to the ground.
as you are carrying 600kg of bombs.

hope this can somewhat help you.
cheers.

Yes, I have already tested the bomber in practical mode.

Unfortunately you can’t see where the bombs hit in this mode^^

you can use the “dummy” tanks.

it will display to the right screen if you got them, or not.

and you can find them on this part of the map:

( all placed and scattered around the four marked “roads” )

than, you will fly around, and see which tanks are burning and adjust or try with different angles.

I find it useful to use the objective closest to the intended target area as a reference.

Depending on your speed and angle of attack you will quickly gauge the rough distance from the objective to release.

For a flat trajectory attack at max speed, which what I use in the Me109 and Bf110, I fly at around 400m and release approx 500m out - give or take on my reaction timings and whether the plane is stable enough.

If I’m using the Stuka, I’ll climb to about 1000m fly close to target and commence my dive from about 1000m away, dive steeply towards the target, release payload, hold or a sec or two to make sure the bombs trajectory is not disrupted as release may sometimes be laggy, and then pull up at around 300m.

Its largely trial and error, but the bigger issue with bombing is the lack of player awareness that they have to mark the enemy units on the ground for planes - lots of players form WT or other games have been spoilt by BS mechanics where you can see too much too clearly from the air. I like the approach in this game in the sense that all bombs are generally guided by marking the enemy. Trying to figure it out by dropping ordnance on the forward line of your own troops is not as effective and you will tend to miss more than hit.
