hello, i’d like to ask if after the merge, the sherman firefly is better than the m4a2 76. i like it and im thinking of getting it, but at the moment m4a2 76 can get the 6stars and firefly is a 5 star premium squad. is it worth it? thanks in advance!
It is not better. Same like M4A2-76 it can damage Panther A/G and Tiger II P, but it will not damage Tiger II H.
ok thanks for the info, i was wondering if that qf pounder cannon makes any real difference in the game. keep it up!
firefly also has solid shot and not APHE
They used to give some more info about the rounds in the various tanks, but recently its all gone a bit generic.
Firstly, they have added HE rounds to the Firefly, when it didn’t have any. So that actually makes it playable in Enlisted (its a pity they don’t do it for the Italians, but I digress)
Secondly, I’ve summarised the WT stats for the two most likely rounds implemented, just in case you wanted to know what these may actually look like.
The Firefly is most likely using Shot Mk 8 (solid shot),with the following performance :
at 10 - 100m it has 187mm pen completely oblique, 142mm at 30 deg to the plate, and 63mm at 60 deg.
at 100 - 500m it has 172mm pen completely oblique, 131mm at 30 deg, and 59mm at 60 deg.
The Sherman M4A2 76(w) most likely uses the M62 APCBC shot with a burst charge making it more lethal post pen:
at 10-100m it has 146mm oblique, 112mm at 30 deg, and 52mm at 60 deg.
at 100 - 500m it has 133mm oblique, 103mm at 30 deg, and 48mm at 60 deg.
The distances most tanks will be engaging each other in Enlisted is somewhere between that 100 - 500m bracket. I think they have some armour factors on the German tanks so you can check these numbers against the tanks in Enlisted to give you a general concept of how where to aim. In theory the 17pdr on the Firefly will pen easier but require more shots to get the kill, whilst the M4A2 76 will bounce more, but once its bites the target will be dead due to the burst charge (a concept they copied from the Germans when they captured their shells in Africa)
Having said that just about all tanks within a given BR bracket are effectively equal in Enlisted now, and even lower BR tanks can still kill the higher tank as long as there is a spot that their round can penetrate.
Firstly, everyone has an arcade indicator of where to shoot so you know whether you will pen or not. at the very least your shot has to be able to damage your opponents barrel. If you can’t then you know that you’re out of your league.
If we look at the most stereotypical front on engagement vs an equal or better opponent, your first shot will always be into their barrel. Once that’s out its GG, because your second shot goes into the track and then its how many rounds does RNG need to brew the other tank up time, assuming the angle you have offers you a penetrating shot - ie your reticle will go green, if not move to a spot that does and finish your target off.
no it’s mk6 shot since it’s marked as just AP and not APCBC like the mk8
I stand corrected, yes they do still indicate whether its APCBC or AP.
The performance metrics for the Shot Mk 6 (solid shot) are :
at 10 - 100m it has 168mm pen completely oblique, 128mm at 30 deg to the plate, and 64mm at 60 deg.
at 100 - 500m it has 155mm pen completely oblique, 117mm at 30 deg, and 59mm at 59 deg.
So the theoretical difference becomes even more marginal in favour of the Firefly.
thanks for all those replies and that great explanation. I finally got it, was clicking on it again and again, couldnt resist and put my ugly m4a2 76 on the bench!
Don’t get it it’s a noob trap tank it looks like it could kill anything but it can’t hurt Tiger 2 H (you can kill Tiger 2 P so at least it’s something). You could get more kills and enjoyment from buying Calliope instead since at least you can easily deal with infantry while against Tiger 2 H you are as defenseless as the Firefly.
I already own calliope, its indeed a fun tank to play. There will be occasions that you will get many many infantry kills. I liked firefly so much visually that the only reason i wouldn’t get it would be if it was worse that the m4a2 76. My first impression on the firefly vs the m4a2, is that i seem to get more green spots on the tiger’s “body”,
I didn’t play enough though to realise the effectiveness on these hits.
Whilst its fiddly, its not a difficult shot, but you need to hit the KT on the barrel, (its got a pretty large recoil suppressor) then track it if you can see its tracks or when it tries to drive away a bit. Then watch for the crew bailing out and spam HE.
