This review will be about Pyotr Boloto, a brave patriotic soldier, who defended the road to Stalingrad with just a PTRS-rifle against a column of 30 german tanks.

History:
Before the war Pyotr Boloto worked in a mine, until he joined the army in 1941.
During the beginning of the battle of Stalingrad, Boloto and three of comrades had only two remaining PTRS anti tank rifles, but managed to occupy an important road near Kletskaya. On July 23rd 1941, a german tank division approached, when 30 of the 250 tanks headed towards the road which Boloto had occupied. Despite being encircled by them, Boloto and the three soldiers opened fire with their anti tank guns against the weak spots of the german tanks and moved from spot to spot to make it harder for the german tanks to notice where the shots were coming from. With grenades and the two PTRS-rifles, they managed to destroy 15 of the 30 german tanks. Because of the big losses, the remaining german tanks retreated to get out of the ambush. Boloto himself destroyed 8 german tanks during the battle, with precise shots of his PTRS-rifle.
Before the battle, as he saw the terrifying german tank column approaching them, Boloto wrote on a piece of paper, ready to die:
“It is better to die than to let the enemy into Stalingrad.
A dark cloud of german tanks is moving towards us.
If we die, we die as communists.”
Pyotr Boloto survived the war and became hero of the soviet union, as well as monument dedicated to him and his unit.
