Entirely PVE solo mode, something like storyline for each country. Different country, different story, it may be on already existing maps, but with quests to fulfill, talks, intrigues, darma, custances and new unseen in-game effects (only for the mode).
All country missions may be connected by some way like sequence or years which wold make it interesting.
It would take lots of developing time. I just want some simple tower defense against overwhelming AI enemy with tanks, planes and apcs
that would be like four call of duties, no just no that would kill the game dead
Could go the route of og battlefront 2 where it was just standard matches tied together with a loose story pushing it forward. No need for voice acting or new mission types
you wont get that. it would require lots of dev time which equal more cost. also it would probably clash with multiplayer grind and would siphon part of the playerbase who is playing multiplayer.
i would suggest asking @ErikaKalkbrenner for best PvE mods.
Well a coop gamemode could serve as a nice “tutorial” to the game.
well, a solo pve with all of that, would be indeed somewhat of a waste of time.
we could however, ask for more features to make it possible for the editor.
now, as i have experienced by a long time,
PVES are somewhat duable, but needs more " love " and support.
it’s somewhat of a subjective concept.
kinda like HA for that matter.
what people want often differ between one and another.
but as probably one of the very few / sole pve maker, ( well, granted, zombies are technically pves. but what i mean by being the sole soul that makes pves, i mean one of the very few using ww2 stuff )
and some people wants tower defense, others want skirmishes, others wants default games with just AIs, others want pves against overwhelming forces, others want full HAs and what not.
so, my personal preference, and what i have managed to make,
- men of war type of PVEs.
aka, you have to assault various positions, and the enemies will have both reinforcements and already present units on the map.

the problem is though, in order to make a gamemode like this,
is that it can only be done in “small” number.
mostly because the game was not made to have actual:
the biggest lie that it’s still up on the site.
at best, you can only have 200 soldiers in a match.
mine has 240+ players, and at the beginning, even with a decent computer, the server will struggle and causes local machines to experience some fps issues.
so i had to make it a lone fighter experience.
where you are pretty much on your own with other soldiers but still facing somewhat of a “larger” enemy force stationed to defend both the points and near the points with occasional defenders " commanders " that will reinforce the point.
problems as, as underlined:
- it’s LF ( not very popular )
- some performance issues
- map isn’t that big
i then experimented with my second attempt.

this time around, it’s more of a “vanilla expanded” experience
basically the same experience as a vanilla maps, but with AI squads having 12 soldiers.
the players will get 1000 tickets, and they must reach the town hall with no additional reinforcements.
like an actual invasion. and it’s a 25v25 too.
players will be using their weapons & squads, and the opponents have historical accurate loadouts and uniforms.
then, there’s the other, which it’s a bit more challenging that it’s the same, but players will be on the defender side:

DL:DR,
PVEs can be done, but need more support. and if anything, PVEs should be coop rather than limited in solo.
so that, if the snail wants, we can make it work next to the MP with rewards worth a while, possible dlc or… anything really. pves can be quite remunerative and above all, there wouldn’t be many pves ww2 games that aren’t strategy games. but i digress.
right now, pves are somewhat less than optimal.
mostly because AIs work more as headless chickens and still yet have many deficiencies.
the only way they can remotely be a threat, is when they are in numbers, and work around objectives.
because bots works for the most part, only based on objectives.
the " other " AI that i used for example, are stationary. yet as a developer explained me, those AIs were not designed to be stationary and pretty much still uses the same nodes as squad ones causing a heavy load despite not doing much. hence, situations with more than 240+ ais will cause performance issues.
-
bots only works with points. hence they will not provide much of a firefight next to points or cover retreating units.
-
bots are unable to destroy rally points next to them in 5 meters
-
tanks don’t remain for that long before they jump off from the tank.
-
due to their weight ( and code ) you can’t have too many Ais on a map ( ones defending, be a nuissance or reinforcements )
-
no AI planes
but for the most part, AI keeps getting better.
although, without official support, pves will not be a thing for a long time.
and it’s unclear if pves will actually ever ending up being a thing due to not so much interest from the devs.
which yes, zombies were made.
but in all fairness, that was probably because of Active Matter. ( the other game the same devs are working on ).
but that’s a conspiracy. so… take it with a pince of salt.
They never said thousands of soldiers on the battlefield at the same time, lol but seriously s a lot of people would be unable to play for you lay on an Xbox one so I don’t want them game too good if that means I can’t play.
that’s why better optimized AI would or rather, should be in order.
“lol”.
