This game can’t force players to play the mode they don’t like, because playing the mode they don’t like is a waste of time, and this game doesn’t give players any choice.
So let the game manager first let players ban the rights of the modes they don’t like, and then punish deserters
That moral superiority OP tries to preach isn’t going to work on a game that has game mechanics that actively promotes selfish behavior such as some battle pass tasks and even event tasks themselves. The grind is already steep enough even with premium so some would just be greedy and ruin someone else’s fun by stomping the entire enemy team with high level weapons, grayzone tanks and other tactics to win the match while getting as many kills as possible.
I already suggested an alternative instead of punishing deserters where there should be a checkbox like “play any team” to queue for an ongoing match to replace deserters with actual players with a boost and some safeguards to prevent people from joining too late. Reinforcing teams with actual players replacing those who left
The matchmaking is already shitty that an entire team can have all players being marshals while the other have no officer ranks at all or one team have high level weapons while the other have starter ones so that adds the reason why punishing players who desert is not a good idea.
Ok here’s my suggestion everyone could get behind.
If you don’t quit the game within the first minute your winrate WILL be effected by that match. So if you quit and your team loses you get one lose on your record, same for if they win.
This way if people quit for not having fun it shouldn’t bother them, but if someone quit for winrate they will suffer.
not that i care about winrate at all i would leave same batles as i do. most will do at 1st min or if notice team is still trying to understand W is used to move foward. shit aint fun, not for me. next.
a.) An emergency IRL
b.) Game is dragging on too long (+40-45 minutes)
c.) I’m the only one building RPs on team (80% of games if I’m the only person with an RP up in the first 5 minutes that’s gonna be a lost game)
I especially despise the last and feel no qualms about leaving then. I play to both enjoy but also to win; building RPs takes less than 20 seconds of work with a single engineer in a squad. If a team is that lazy (like the last round I was playing) then I don’t intend to pull them to victory by myself.
Like, here’s the thing, y’all: those who are quitting likely didn’t want to quit in the first place.
Meaning, in very basic economic terms, their desire to play has been trumped by…something else. Considering ITT most of the players are complaining about:
a.) Shitty maps
b.) Shitty teammates
c.) Heavy bot matches
d.) Teammates that don’t play obj/engineer shit
Those are your issues. Not the quitters. Punish leaving and you end up with players leaving the game because the above issues aren’t addressed. Instead, a better method for Darkflow to push for better matches is (in order of solutions to the problems above):
a.) A map/faction/game mode browser or checklist a la War Thunder. Something that’d allow players to play across factions, game modes, or maps that they so choose to do. Arguments about “splitting the playerbase” fall flat when they’ve already artificially done so via their “Campaigns.” In fact, this is more likely to get certain campaigns more play since some players like certain maps from those campaigns.
b.) SBMM or a similar match-making method. Matching Lvl 1’s with Lvl 39’s is just wrong at this point and contributes to the problem. Elites don’t want to play with noobs who won’t (and can’t!) do a lot of the stuff they can.
c.) They need to insert players deeper into the match length when players leave, and need to not start matches until a game has a majority of players. Bots can’t replace players, so incentivize players to stay in matches longer (some1 mentioned a 100% boost after a certain amount of leaves. That’s perfect).
d.) This one is actually the hardest to fix IMO because it’ll likely require finding a balance of several fixes. Here’s a few incentives:
Tremendously more XP for rally spawns.
Prioritization of spawn for player who built the rally.
Asymmetrical RP radii for enemies depending on the map (meaning some maps or modes an RP might be 25m before it becomes unavailable, other 50m, etc.)
this is still not acceptable, for a example, lets say that i have just came home from a brazening day at work, an finished 90 minutes late and having to do the job of 2 people, all the while supervising everyone and apologizing to people because others cant do their job properly
then hence forth i want to play some games to relax and destress, while enjoying two of the things that i enjoy (gaming and WW2)
but every game i get into is full of high tier sweatlords that only care about winning in any cheesy way they can,
AA gun spam, full autos on every troops, vehicle cycling, spawncamping/bombing, nade spaming, mine spaming and flamen spamming and so forth, or just shit team mates that all have a shared braincell
i will leave every one of those games everytime with out fail
and punishing anyone for leaving such games is a very toxic feature
It’s not toxic, it just rewards people who are loyal to their team mates and it punishes those that leave
It’s far more toxic to leave your team weakened to lose than to be punished for doing so
You can make up whatever reasons you want, but at the end of the day, you decide to play the game. Regardless of how bad your day has been. If you don’t want to risk having a bad experience in a game, don’t load it up. You are already leaving the matches annoyed at your team mates or whatever other reason if you are pissed at the map or team or whatever, so what difference does it make if you get penalized for having a negative impact on your team mates? You are making it worse for everyone else by leaving.
Bottom line, like I said earlier. If all matches go this way, we will end up with a broken game with one sided team dominance every match, because nobody has the balls to actually fight a tough team and have a tough fight, because everyone behaves like spoiled brats.
So yes, this is an essential suggestion, and hope it is seriously considered. As it would help weed out the cowards from the game or help them become more dedicated to their teams. Either way, this suggestions ends in a win scenario for the game, and only the cowards suffer, as it should be.
Currently, the good people who stick to matches are suffering because of the cowards, and that is true toxicity.
This is a f2p online game that literally anyone having access to a potato and an internet connection can play, with kinda realistic ballistics and movement but otherwise arcadey.
Expecting others to play in a certain way, with any enforcing method other than creating incentive with rewards, is pretty much like expecting to herd some hundreds cats with a whip. Good luck.
Perfect example, two of the highest ranked players on our team wimp out early when they realize it’s a tough match and they tuck their tail between their legs and run
Of course players should be punished for this constant behavior. There is something wrong with this culture in this game, it’s pathetic
The players who stay and fight should be rewarded, and the cowards punished.
It’s the only way they will learn to stop doing this behavior and stop ruining matches for other people
Assuming everyone in this scoreboard are actual players and nobody quit the match at all. Will you stay on the enemy team when the situation is like this one?
Try D-Day and Ver-Sur-Mer as Allies where the Axis team have high level weapons, aviation and the most important thing 2 Tigers on the hills with a nice beach view operated by good tankers while your teammates are a band of low level apes that don’t know what to do against what the Axis have, will you not quit because you have this principle of “good sportsmanship” when your entire team is getting stomped? Others would just quit so they could find a better match to play.
I could imagine you playing War Thunder where the enemy team spawn camps your entire team, revenge bombing and other tactics along with constant uptiers that the game enabled as part of game design there where you are basically dog food to high tier tanks just like high level players in this game.
I don’t quit matches, only time I may have left a match was due to something in real life pulling me away and getting kicked for being afk for too long, and that can happen whether I’m winning or losing a match, but never do I leave just because we are getting smashed. And yes, when playing alone and no friends are online to join me, sometimes get matches like that, and get smashed, and I can tell you that running at bullets is definitely not effective.
I always know when our team sucks, because I finish top of the leaderboard lol
Just took a hard loss, not afraid to admit it and take it
this ties into my other argument of people throwing away squads for no effect
The opponents had tanks, and our team just could not get at them and deal with them, nobody had bombers or could reach them with explosives and our tanks were all inferior, this is the result
Makes no difference if mr press w only keeps running at bullets towards the point, because he just gets mowed down until those emplacements are dealt with. And in this match our team simply did not have the tools to deal with them. So people who say that there is no tactical gameplay are lying to your face. You need to use the right tool for the right job, if you lack that tool, you cannot hope to deal with the problem
4 Guys left and 2 didn’t bother spawning any more
Should we be rewarded extra while those cowards punished? Absolutely
Sure there is another thing at play here, which is game and matchmaking imbalance, but despite that, do the best you can with what you have. Don’t be a spineless coward.
you can disagree all you want, doesn’t change the fact the behavior of abandoning the teams consistently without repercussions is the real toxicity as seen by people like me who see those people are toxic cowards acting like spoiled brats that only want wins and expect everyone else to suffer due to their selfishness. They should be punished and deserve it
punishment would simply be the correct enforcement to discourage that toxicity
bad sportsmanship requires that you participate, if you just run away from the fight, that is lower than bad sportsmanship, it’s plain cowardice & total selfishness
bad sportsmanship is something someone does in the game, but they play the game, and they do it to the opponent. This is hurting your own team mates, which is far more serious as it not only hurts the team mates, it hurts the game and in the end ruins it for the other team, it’s total toxicity culture infestation in this game and it has to stop
never seen this being seen as toxic ever, in any game untill now
and to confer to those that only want to seal club
no its bad sportmanship and for selfishness so you expect others to sit there and be XP farmed? and if you leave thats toxic because you were being farmed for XP? please explain your logi
it most cases the bots that replace the players play better
infested with people that demand that people slug though a rubbish game, on rubbish game modes on rubbish maps on rubbish teams and only end up with wasting 20-40 minutes of their time
