Before they start putting in these measures to deal with deserting players, they need to address some QoL things. I’d like the ability to select what game modes I play. Personally, I don’t like the Confrontation game mode, so I exit the match before it even starts every time I see it start to load. I know they have a road map for something like this to be put into the game so it’s just a matter of waiting it out until the feature comes, but that game mode is my biggest desertion rate.

yes because we want to turn deserters into quitters, people quitting the game
because the game has such a large player base
first we sell the ptp more slots driving away the ftp
then we drive away the casual’s with desertion penalties
because enlisted is not a team game its a solo game with funny named bots
if you are loosing it is your fault
if you are not having fun it is your fault
enlisted for the pure gamers that dedicate there lives and wallets to the game
looks around, its very lonely here

I know I have financially invested far more to this game then I should have. 
The reality is that DF needs to fix the problems of why people desert in the first place, which IMOP they can’t, which is why they don’t try to do anything other then give lip service.
If DF can’t fix it, then they need to just give the player base what they have been asking for, 0/0 matchmaking and freedom to pick their maps and or contest. The reality as I see it is that we’re going to be playing against more and more bots anyway whether there isn’t enough players or players are deserting terrible matches. Hell, the 1/1 with no soft rule crap and being able to choose their match would be better then what we have now.

This would drive many people (including me) away. Unless they fix the matchmaking system AND allow me to remove all Pacific maps from rotation, I will continue to desert probably 60% of my matches. If I was penalized TWENTY minutes for doing so, I would just stop playing the game all together.
This is more than reasonable. I would be fine with this.

I LOVE getting to join already going matches because I’m the sacrificial filler for all the ragebabies because 6 people on the team quit
dude I just want to play any map besides Guadalcanal, if maps were more separated by BR there would be way fewer deserters, most leave at the very start before the game even begins because since so many of the maps are BR 1-5 now you can’t avoid the one’s you don’t want to play on
