PTRD shot behavior

I think I finally unraveled the mystery of the PTRD not hitting where you aim it, at least in some cases:
Recoil is somehow throwing the shot high.

Here’s an example-

This is my point of aim before shooting a Panzer II while standing at VERY close range:

While this is the point of impact:

There’s actually a couple of frames of delay between the shot and the hitmarker appearing, while meanwhile the recoil is throwing the barrel way up

Here’s the original video:

Thoughts on this theory?
The first shot in the video also seemed to register the hit much quicker, and it went where I was aiming.

your zero is off. Your zeroed at longer distances.

You can’t zero these guns, though. And that would be like a 2km range zero.

Windage would be a MUCH bigger problem than elevation were that the case. Plus PTRDs only had 2 elevation settings, I don’t think either were very long.

I’m actually surprised windage isn’t an issue with how far offset the sight is from the barrel. In War Thunder it goes to a ridiculous degree with some tanks how much you have to correct left or right with range.

Not to mention the ungodly high velocity on the cartridge. Scratch my origional post. If this was the cause of elevation zero, this would be a 10km zero.

Look at hte video all the shots hit exactly where pointed - the initial picture is NOT where you were aiming when the shot was fired.

I haven’t played moscow since the smg premiums were put in. But from my experience, it always shot high until several hundred meters out due to that being the zero and height over bore.

I haven’t played Moscow in a while but the fact that this thing is still left unfixed makes me sad

At least it now actually deals damage so that’s fixed

He literately said by himself that shots registered properly in that video

The first shot registered properly, I didn’t pay attention to the second, and the 3rd didn’t.
