A prototype light machine gun produced by the Empire of Japan for the purpose of replacing existing light machine guns.
2. history
It is a magazine-type/stolen-plate light machine gun produced by several manufacturers, and several derivatives were produced, but not all were adopted and the war ended. Except for some derivatives that use bullet plates , the common feature is that they are magazine-type and use 20 to 30 rounds.

It is Type 1, designed by Nambu Kijiro, and is an improved version of Type 99 . The advantage is that it is easier to disassemble and assemble than the Type 99.

A meal made at the Nagoya Armory. It used the same magazine as the Vz.26 and had two types of bipods. The photo below is a bipod made in Nagoya Armory.

The military, which felt various problems with ammunition compatibility between infantry squads and machine gun companies, created the Type 99 and Prototype 1 by adding the characteristics of each company’s prototypes to replace the existing Type 99 and at the same time use it as a general purpose machine gun (GPMG) . A 30-round bullet plate was used, and by replacing the barrel, Type 92 and Type 99 bullets could be used.
