Proposition buff: AT cannon of the engineers (amunitions, placement...) and engineers

I love playing engineer. However, I think this class deserves a little buff:
First on the general manufacturing speeds (slightly faster) but also on the destruction speeds of its own equipment. Indeed, the AT gun is fixed, but the battlefield moves quickly, so by the time the engineer destroys his old gun, rebuilds it at the right place, it is often already too late (same for the dca).
To come back to the flak and AT gun, both deserve to have much more ammunition, especially AT ammunition on the gun. I can understand that we limit the number of AP ammunition to avoid having a player spamming this one. But the amount of AT shells is often too small to destroy a big tank.
Moreover, the gun lacks power, in fact it often takes a lot of shells to destroy an enemy tank, while it only needs one shot to destroy our gun, so unless you surprise the tank with a flank, generally you can’t win the duel. For me the tank should have the advantage because of its mobility, and the AT gun because of its power (currently, both advantages are for the tanks)
And last thing about this gun: the elevation. Especially on maps with relief, sometimes you can’t take advantage of the cannon because you need a flat ground to position it, but since you can’t shoot downwards, the cannon is useless when you are high up in relation to the enemy tanks…

Last thing on the engineers: it would be interesting for the engineers to gain points when an ally takes ammunition in our boxes or kills a tank/aircraft/enemy with our constructions (dca, cannon).

PS: improve the AI :sweat_smile: at least improve the way they take the cover, because there is no synergy between our different squad members

Call your bots for help. If you use X on structure “blueprint” or structure itself at least one bot should come and help with building them (engineer bot of course) or destroying them. You can also setup few “blueprints” and tell your bots to build some of them while you build the rest. This way you can save some time.

You can replenish AA and AT guns ammo. Take your hammer and press T.

But overall big respect for you. There aren’t many of us actually loving to play as engineers. Keep it up.

Option to move AT guns was teased. So have hope and wait, I guess.

Use bots to destroy and build and plan ahead. Most maps allow to place equipment in a good spot to cover 2-3 stage changes.

Id point out that you can hide the AT gun relatively easily making ambushing as defender fairly easy, sure as attacker theres little to nothing you can do except flank.
Not sure about power, the gun lacks power for sure but its not supposed to make tanks obsolete.

it is not likely to tho. at guns still have exposed crew and the gun can be one shotted by a HE shell

So, 2 point left are the lack of puissance again some tank, and the elevation problem

One more thing :
I usually build a cannon at the beginning of the map (in conquest mode). Then later in the game, when the front has advanced, I take the engineers back, with the idea of building a new cannon on the new front. Unfortunately the first cannon, even if it has become useless, it remains intact and so I can’t build a new one (which would remove the old one like the respawn box). And since the old one is far, even inaccessible because behind the enemy lines, I can’t build any more to stop an enemi push

ive tried. unless i walk away, they get there as im in the last couple seconds, and even when i walk away it would be faster if i do it myself. and this is when they arent under fire. even when im not under fire they tend to blow my orders off and act like i never gave the order in the first place

Minee seem to listen to me pretty well and can give me a helpful hand when I want to create fortified position with AT gun and MG nest.

But of course, bots are sometimes very inconsistent but they are improving. They have got much better since CAT and CBT. We can just hope that they keep improving.

Depends if the range remains & dmg is increased it becomes fairly appealing choise to fight tanks and correct me if im wrong the AT guns are limited 1 / squad rather than 1 / team.
Which means if its too effective at combating tanks there will soon be quite a shit ton of AT guns all around.

So if it gets buffed it should also be limited X amount / team rather than 1 by squad.

Yeah why not. But today, even if you build a AT gun and surprise a ennemy tank, you can have the time to hit 2-3 even 4 shoot before he realise where you are, but he will still have the possibility to turn the turrel and just whit one shoot he destroy you…

tbf the point of AT gun shields is to protect the crew from small-arms fire, not 50-75 mm tank shells

Theres hardly time once you get flanked, maybe a fully upgraded tank could have enough traverse speed to turn turret against you, if you for some reason did not pen half of your shots from AT gun.

But as said AT guns in current state are quite bad but as every inf currently is capable to destroy tank for balance reasons, If the AT guns get buffed as well the tanking experience probably turns out to be fun as inf vs planes with nukes was in past.
So in that sense id say the AT guns very least must be limited if they get buffed or when they get buffed.

yeah i know, the point is : actually AT gun are almost useless, cuz the tank have a way more bigger avantage on all the point (he can 1 shoot you, you cant; even if you hit first there are 80% chance of be kill by the tank; the tank can move not you…)
