Proposing a new tank progression system

I personally think that tank progression is kinda stale and would like to suggest the following:

Instead of unlocking new tanks in the campaign, let the player unlock 2 more tank squads. Each tank squads has their own specializations and benefits:

Starter: Light tanks
First unlock: Medium tanks
Second unlock: Tank destroyers

Light tanks would be able to cap points but only count as a single soldier when all tank crew are inside the tank.

Medium tanks would be able to carry an ammunition resupply point on their back, allowing infantry to restock their guns like with the engineer building.

Tank destroyers would be able to carry an explosives resupply point, allowing soldiers to replenish 1 grenade of the type they had in the explosive slot when used, per tank/life.

Instead of weapon upgrades in the green upgrade tab, we would have tanks, costing 3-10 upgrade points to unlock. If the developers desire they could also lock shells there (for example, HE/HEAT rounds or HVAP/APCR)

For the tanks to unlock, I suggest the following:
Germany light:
Pz35t > Pz38t > PZ2 (no HVAP)
Russia light:
T-26 > BT-7 > T-60

German medium:
Pz3E > Pz4C/D (no HEAT) > Pz4J (short 50mm)
Russian medium:
T-26-4 > T-28 > T-28 mod1940

German TD:
Panzerjäger 1 > Stug A
Russian TD:
Su-76 > ZiS-30

Comments:
Yes, I did put a Russian light into the medium line. There are very few Russian mediums to choose from: only the T-28 and variants, and the T-34, which would be OP. Instead, I opted for the 76mm T-26 which can lob HE, as well as the T-28 mod1940 (the only vehicle not represented in war thunder as of now) which has a longer 76mm barrel similar to the T-35.

Any suggestions are welcome

agreeable.

honestly, i’m not sure it would be a good idea. i think it’s fine as it is right now. no need for any other division. i do understand that variety and other things are important. but dont wanna have the division squad full of pointless tanks and stuff. when i can just use one for every tank.

mh,

no. this is a bad idea. why a vehicle should do an infantry task. you are just gonna make a nightamare for the infantry.
sounds really overpowered as dumb :frowning:

why? those are not logistic trucks or anything related to resuppy. perhaps for that, we could use halftrucks. like i made in my suggestion.

you really love those 3-10 cost upgrade points, don’t you.
points aside, i wouldnt let the player choise which tank to unlock, because they are gonna most likely skip. and i don’t think in enlisted you should skip anything.

in conclusion,
as i said, i prefer the normal system. but i do agree new tanks are needed.

I think the German medium tree should go like this
PZ3E with a 37mm then the PZ3J with a stubby 50mm then the PZ4D firing heat as the best medium tank

Currently there are no ways for infantry to get more explosives’ so that would be filling a gap in resupply while also making it so TDs don’t just sit back at spawn but that’s just my take on it

i think that if you think about…

panzers hunters are not there to fiill the infantry with explosives…
rather, an opel blitz, or a kamaz/ural no idea of names tbh.
the models are in wt and enlisted already. just not made into vehicles.

The tank unlocks would be in a tree, just like any other upgrade trees, so you first have to unlock the first tank, then the second one. They would also require multiple squad points to unlock.

I personally think having light tanks be able to cap at a reduced rate would be fine as countering them with explosives is not too difficult. Maybe allow them to cap only if the commander is outside his hatch?

Similarly, I do think that medium tanks and TDs should have some advantage as well, and as having ammo on medium tanks seems fine to you, i think getting 1 explosive from a tank destroyer is a nice little incentive to stick close to your TDs to protect them. They will be the most vulnurable with open tops/backs after all.

Im not entirely opposed to this, although i don’t think any of the tanks should have special abilities like capping points, you shouldn’t really be using a tank for close range combat unless that tank is a T-60 and you are using that T-60 to kill other tanks.

I’m pretty sure the T-28, Zis-30, Panzerjäger 1, 38T, and the Panzer 4 variants are already in the files, so i wouldnt be surprised if we saw them in game

well, now that you let me think about it, it could be a good idea to include tanks in the tech tree.

yet again, why would let the tank doing infantry job. capping points it’s not a reason for be a tanker.
his job is to support the infantry and kill the other tanks.

err, no.
because tank destroyers on the front line along side the soldiers, there is something wrong. usually you wouldn’t use a tank destroyer in close quarters or directly on a point.

nor the infantry have anything to do with dts. they are supposed to cap the point, and deal with the infantry. in the meanwhile, the dts support the infrantry by killing tanks.

it’s not really an incentive for get 1 explosive from a tank. i would prefer seeying logistic trucks or something like that for resupply stuff.

i could agree that an enginner should protect the dts from the air but that’s it. the others should be at the frontline.

or at least, this is what i think.

we need more tanks and their customisation ! infantry is pretty much covered !

Engeniers tho could use upgrade bulding more better stuff !.. why not give germans 88 mm anti air or soviets 76 mm zis gun !
