Proposal for Major Buffs + Rework to the FG-42 rifles

Hey. The FG-42 first and second pattern are some of the most produced weapons that actually exist in real life for BR5. The development and production of the FG-42 makes it a legendary weapon, produced to every spec that was requested by the German Military. It should realistically be one of, if not, the best Select Fire rifles in this game, but it is sadly the worst. Lets change that. And while we’re at it, why not make the FG-42 I and FG-42 II distinct weapons from each other, with a reason to actually use both, rather than the first pattern just being a weaker version of the FG-42 II

  1. Firstly, buff the damage of these weapons. The FG-42 infamously cannot one shot kill against Soviet soldiers with Vitality and Body armour, since that is effectively 14.85 health, and the FG42s only do (base 12) 14.4 damage. Increase the damages as follows
    FG-42 I: (12) 14.4 → (12.7) 15.3 (Same as AVT-40, T20)
    FG-42 II: (12) 14.4 → (13.2) 15.8 (Same as the AVS-36)

  2. Secondly, Re-adjust the fire-rates to match their IRL rpms. This has 3 benefits. First and obviously, this makes the guns more historically accurate. Next, this creates another difference between the 2 rifles, separating them gameplay-wise and giving a reason to at least use both of the guns for different roles. Thirdly, most players agree that the rate of fire on the FG-42 is too high for its 20 round magazine. But there are still players that think a fire-rate decrease is a nerf, even though it allows the gun to perform better by being easier to use in terms of recoil, as well as ammo management. This would mean that there is a more “competitive” version of the gun (FG-42 II), but also a version with an even higher fire-rate, satisfying both parties.
    FG-42 I: (750) 830 → (820) 900
    FG-42 II: (750) 830 → (680) 750
    Reference:
    AVS-36 + AVT-40: (600) 660
    T20: (650) 710
    Type Hei Automatic: (720) 790

  3. Third, the FG-42s both suffer from an increased hipfire dispersion of 23, rather than the regular 15 that all other select fires have. Bring this in line with the other weapons
    FG-42 I & FG-42 II: 23 → 15

  4. I have listed this change last, as it would require a decent amount more work than the other changes (simple stats and numbers to be tweaked), but both the FG-42 versions are well known for being equipped with bayonets. My suggestion here is to simply add a bayonet to the weapons. This would put them on par with every other select fire rifle. Furthermore, if the devs did add a bayonet to these weapons, it would be cool if they were 1. Integrated (non-removable), and 2. Modelled based on the real life bayonets these weapons used (as opposed to just sticking a knife on the underside of the barrel.

These changes alone would massive increase the effectiveness of these 2 weapons, making them competitive choices against all other Select Fire rifles from other factions. Below, I’ll list some additional suggestions to further separate the two FG-42 versions further, giving more reasons to play with both guns.

  1. Increase the ADS speed of the FG-42 I. I would make it so that the FG-42 first version is slightly quicker to fully aim down the sights. This can be justified by the different shaped stock, as well as the weapon grip being angled, which could allow more comfortable movement.
    FG-42 I: 0.65 → 0.7
    FG-42 II: 0.65 → 0.65
Reference: HIGHER number means faster aim down sights speed.
    AVS-36: 0.85
    AVT-40: 0.8
    T20: 0.65
    Type Hei Automatic: 0.72

  2. Increase the accuracy of the FG-42 II. This would compliment its higher damage, as well as satisfying the well-known history of this weapon being a technological marvel for its time.
    FG-42 I: (0.35) 0.25 → (0.32) 0.22
    FG-42 II: (0.32) 0.22 → (0.22) 0.15
Reference: LOWER number means less dispersion, so more accurate
    AVS-36: (0.28) 0.2
    AVT-40: (0.26) 0.18
    T20: (0.28) 0.2
    Type Hei Automatic: (0.22) 0.15

Oh so I wonder how you call FG42 II worse than AVS and AVT.

what?

Because it can’t consistently oneshot whereas the AVT and AVS can. Hope that helps!

Cause the FG is worse than the AVT and AVS

The gun is very weak, it is definitely the worst select-fire rifle

Also, reminder. The only factions SF that faces body armor. And it cant deal with it cause of the low damage.

They are practically unusable in automatic mode, but you can easily spray the Bullets with FG42.(and fg42 have 5 more bullet)

This is objectively wrong, but okay

The those 5 extra bullets don’t justify how much worse it is lol

T20 and hey are better, but personaly i think fg is better than avs and avt.

This sounds like a skill issue

And you have a math problem.

Edit: So even fools shut up with statistics. Why didn’t I use this method before?

Making the FG-42 and FG-42 II actually viable? Yes please. Germany already has mid-worst infantry gear in every category, they need a buff (especially since body armor makes the FG require 2-tap)

+1 to damage buff and historically accurate RoF. But give 20 rounds magazine to AVT-40, so soviet mains don’t complain.
