Since bug section disappeared and I’m not even sure if it’s a bug or just supposed to be like this (nor do I want to wait weeks for an answer on their new system), I’m asking here:
Here’s the first Japanese sniper rifle, with it’s damage over distance values. Those are normal, they’re supposed to be this way (decreasing slowly over dist.) so all is fine here:
Now, let’s look at the second unlock, the sniper type 99. It’s a very nice firearm with a very pleasant feel but… Look at the damage values. They’re those of a regular, non sniper variant, and is effectively MUCH worse than the first sniper, the type 97:
Even more silly, here’s THE REGULAR, NON SNIPER type 99… it’s values are even better than it’s sniper counterpart!
My question is: Am I missing something here? are those values intended, or are those written wrong and the rifle is in fact more powerful? Did the devs merely forget to upgrade the rifle to a sniper variant?
So, you guys know anything about it? Until I’m sure, I simply won’t use it as it would (possibly) mean nerfing myself… Which is sad as the sniper feels very nice.

It’s something similar. the rifle DOES have post patch damage values… But it’s damage OVER DISTANCE values are NOT those of a sniper variant, like ALL others in the game…
A bit like the event pre war g98 that the devs never bothered to correct, yet did so for the event Mosin…
and ppl say there’s no bias
This bug or oversight was reported to them AGES ago. Not corrected yet.

I have a plausible explanation here, but I’m not sure if DF designed it on that basis - meaning I’m not sure if it’s a bug or intentional either:
Type 99 rifles use different bullets (7.7 and 6.5) than Type 97, so they have different damage values (in real life, 6.5 ammo has better ballistics but doesn’t do as much damage on hitting a human body as 7.7mm, which has more kinetic energy and rolls easier on hit, but think Tokarev ammo vs Parabellum ammo in game , yeah …)
The Type99 sniper rifle on the other hand has a special thick barrel and dedicated ammo with reduced launch charges, so it makes sense that it would do less damage than a regular rifle.
you reminded me that those bandaged rifles existed

I have made a similar hypothesis… But the problem is that it’s not the first time they screwed up damage values between regular rifles and sniper variants. Heck, some bugs remain unresolved to this day due to sheer laziness, like the event Mosin and event g98, where they decided to correct (boost) event Mosin, but completely ignore event g98, which still has PRE BOLT ACTION BUFF PATCH values…
Now lil helpers might say “you must write those in the new bug report feature” But yeah. this has been reported by me since the bolt action patch and still ignored to this day…
…
I don’t really trust them to pay attention to our bug reports at this point.
eheh yeah, I still use both, even if the g98 is effectively over nerfed as devs never updated it…

@Euthymia07 you used to know about those things… Is that intended this way? If it is, I’ll merely stop bothering.
If it isn’t, I’ll report it in bug section of main site.
Your help would be much appreciated.
